Unlimited amount of obtainable followers?

So do you think (or know) if one can obtain an unlimited amount of followers in the game? I was wondering since PM mentioned that dying would take away followers, and gameplay chests would cost followers in order to open. Anyone who has more understanding of the followers system and gameplay chests plz say something.

One can assume that we will indeed have an infinite amount of followers we can obtain. After all, it's been suggested that all those chests can be opened so if there was a limited amount, you'd be screwed.

For doing quests you get followers as a reward, in place of renown I think, and followers can be spent on gameplay chests to unlock content...

Hmmm well I hope ya'll are right. When I first heard about the gameplay chests I wasn't very sure about them. I guess we'll find out.

*sign* Stuff you get to earn followers are what you spend. They are called guild seals.
