War of the Worlds

This movie has been on TNT for the past night, a lot, and it's a favorite movie of mine - mostly due to the action and all. But anyways I have a few questions to ask since this is a discussion form and some of you might be interested in this kind of stuff, I'm not sure what was better, the book or the movie. By the way I'm talking about the 2005 movie with Tom Cruise. Not the rip offs or other movies, unfortunately companies who can't think of good ideas have to copy others. Anyways!

1. Do you think this could happen?

2. If it did what would you do?

3. Where would you go?

4. Would you have hope?

I asked number four because in a particular scene, where they're at the hill - there's several tanks, humvees, LAVs, troops, helicopters and jets all giving the tripods a bad day - or not... - but I think that put hope in the people that's why they started running up the hill, sadly only to see all that firepower do absolutely nothing to only three tripods. So if something like that happened, would you continue to have hope and fight or just straight up surrender yourself to the aliens?

Re: War of the Worlds

1.) I don't know, but I'm not saying it couldn't.

2.) Travel away from any largely populated areas, and use my extensive knowledge of monster/sci fi movies to help me (you can't hope to harm any sort of giant behemoth, I mean, duh)

3.) Cornwall.

4.) Yes. Hope would be your only motivation if it happened in real life.

Re: War of the Worlds

Interesting Hobbe. Very good answer.

Re: War of the Worlds

1. Yes. I doubt they're in the ground, but an invasion is possible. Anything is.

2. Get a gun (so if the aliens come out of the tripod) and hide somewhere with my family.

3. Anywhere deserted, where aliens wouldn't expect a large population.

4. Of course. Hope tends to prevail, which in this case, did by the small microorganism.

Re: War of the Worlds

Also, none of the cars worked in the beginning of the invasion, did they? I'd have to use a bicycle or something :D
