Warrior's Paradox
The warrior stands on a battlefield full of despair
the army of enemies dispatched with relative ease
where once stood his foes now lay cadavers
no longer people but inanimate objects
the weight of truth began to bear down
life is a gift but he was denied a warriors death
for what use is his life when its substance is gone
the scythe of the reaper had allowed him a chance
but it was a opportunity he wished to squander
purpose and direction now devoid of his life
a chasm was opened, though it would not swallow him
as unable to complete his purpose as he was
never trained for life beyond the battle
he failed to notice the utter tranquility
the peace beyond war to him was as strife
the order imposed caused unexplainable chaos
so trained was he for times of conflict and unrest
that a time when no more was required of him -
- was as unnerving as battle to the eyes of a civilian
so when all objectives were accomplished, he lay down his sword
though he was never to return to societies grasp
as forever tainted he was by the struggle he'd seen
his victory is his loss, forever destined to wander alone
