Can anybody help me get this achievement?

This achievements ****ing me off, I've spent like 2 1/2 hours online with my friend and am only a 1/5th of the way there despite buying out most of albion in a joint partnership (Well I say joined, all the money spent was mine xD), DO i seriously have to do this for like 10 hours before I get 1000 Gold or is there an easier way?
