We have a diagnosis!

Oh hurrah and huzzah all the talk of my being ancient and crumbly is no longer mere speculation...called the doctor for the results of my bone xray 3 weeks ago and I have been diagnosed with arthritis of the spine - with no family history and given my age, it is a rare thing I have managed to get...

Still got an MRI scan to have yet - calling up the spinal rehab centre on Monday for an appointment - but I am now officially classed as disabled and I'm gonna start hunting for a nice little scooter to run chavs over with...

So yeah - no cure, only pain management (as in, punch people in the face when it gets too much :lol and I shall no doubt let you all know the prognosis when I have my scan.

Ah well....

Yeah, it's not so great and as you know it couldn't have come at a worse time but we'll get on with it and hopefully the Government will help out too...have to apply for Disability Living Allowance and if I'm awarded it I can get some help towards adapting our home for wheelchair use and get my hands on a mobility scooter - seriously, old people have all the fun with those things...I tried one out the other day and they go wicked fast...crashed twice and everything!

thats sucks dude but i can suggest something that will make you feel better
invest in a joust strap it to your wheelchair and you chav hunting kit shall be complete

Could have been brought on by anything really, its good that you know what it is but im sorry to hear its something that cant be cured fully. Looks like you will have to stop off at my workplace to get some joint pills or something...

You have my sympathy. Not sure what else I can say...

I do like the strap-a-lance-to-your-wheelchair idea, though. You can move to Maryland and help revive our somewhat stupid state sport! Drop the horse, replace it with a wheelchair, and you have [drumroll] Wheelchair Jousting! And instead of catching rings, you chase doctors! I can think of any number of people who would absolutely love seeing specific doctors get run through with a big, sharp object. Hell, you've been in the hospital so there're probably a few you want to, ah "dispose of."

so, you're just as oldy and as mouldy as I ever said you were
that sucks that you're falling apart so vigorously and completely, but if it makes you feel any better you can now throw pretty much any foul tantrum you want (not that you'd ever do such a thing :angel and get away with it...
you're disabled... it's hard for most to come up with a snappy comeback to a crippy without sounding like a total jackass...
so enjoy your new carte blanche to mayhem, and while I hope they can find a way to fix you up, if they do, don't tell anybody... it would only spoil the fun...

On that I agree totally. Those who are sick, cripled, or senile can basically run amok. My little sister had cancer, and she delighted in cursing the doctors out as they poked and prodded, as well as generally being an evil little shrimp.

So make the most of it-- you have the power! (And remind me to never get near the UK. Not that it seems likely that I would, but if I did I'd be at risk of being attacked by people who knew who had told you to be evil. Only Hex would be in more danger than I! [grin])

Wow, that's so weird. I read this post and the next day my grandma was diagnosed with Osteoarthritis (spinal arthritis.) It's too bad that there's not a cure, but with the advances being made in modern medicine, I wouldn't be surprised if a cure is found sometime in the next decade. Best of luck to you Angel.
