The few consumers who managed to get their hands on a copy of Halo 3 a week early today can rejoice – because Microsoft has confirmed to MCV that it has no plans to ban them from Xbox Live.

An earlier rumour spread across the ‘net that consumers who bought the game today – exactly seven days before the official September 26th release date – risked losing their Live status if they attempted to play the title this evening.

But Microsoft has categorically stated otherwise.

Branches of Argos and Comet both sold copies of the game earlier today. Argos has told MCV that the blunder was down to an ‘administrative error’.

I had heard the rumour of people who play Halo 3 early getting banned from live. However they got the games legally it was just because of an error by some stores they received them and i didnt see Microsoft banning legitimate paying gamers from Live. Glad to see this is a false rumour as mine might be dispatched early (got email yesterday saying my card would be debited and it would be dispatched soon so they meet pre-order targets).

Well that's good to hear.
