Re: Weapon Development

I would really like bows in Fable 3.
I agree that it should be weaker than rifles, pistols, crossbows and blunderbusses,
but it should have different kinds of damage types (light arrows, heavy arrows, magic, poison, ...) that would make it more powerful or faster.

Re: Weapon Development

^Poison weapons wouldn't work with Fable unless there was some kind of poison augmentation. And having one damage type of ranged or melee weapons being 'magic' would be stupid and useless. 'Magic' type damage is what spells are for.

Re: Weapon Development

yes seeing arrows come back would be cool. Like poison arrows, you find the elixer to make them in the albion swamp. Make your own augments and arrows. Another nice touch would be magical weapons like staffs, and wands. Seeing better legendary weapons would be nice too. A big disapointment for fable 3 was that the legendary weapons were weaker than the master weapons. I would like to see more powerful stuff. Bring back good ol magic into the picture again. Like maybe HOB rebuilds the guild

Re: Weapon Development

I have also thought about being able to make some stuff yourself, but to do it you have to have the necessary "ingredients" and the recipe.

Re: Weapon Development

I don't want Fable ripping off an idea from another RPG, I disagreee with the DIY items idea.

Re: Weapon Development

i don't see what the big problem with having a shotgun is. we all freak out when lionhead tries to change the game and shake things up a little. just like f2 still had the assassins outfit and crossbows, lionhead will find a way to both satisfy our needs with a little bit of the new and some of the old.

This ain't Harry Potter. F*ck wands.

i never said it was harry potter. But it brings back that medevil sort of theme with wands for mage users. For example alchemy would require u using a wand or something in order to solidify the ingrediants . There is no ends to the imagination a wand or magic staff could do. Im just suggesting ideas and there is no need to freak out over them. Im not a game designer so its not like im making fable 2 and what i say goes. Its a free forum so i can post what i wish in a weapons thread. So in the mean time stfu.

Re: Weapon Development

Necromancer didn't imply that you said harry potter. He just said that fable is not like harry potter, where teenagers wave enchanted sticks around saying gibberish. Why have wands when you can do the same stuff without it in fable. And necromancer can post what he wants, that was his opinion.

i never said anything like gibberish. But it would be an interesting factor as weapons for mages. To increase your magic powers strength or something. He can post what he wants but he doesnt have to crush my ideas.

Re: Weapon Development

Wands just don't belong in Fable, that's not the kind of game it is. I don't have a problem with staffs, just leave 'magic' ones out. There simply shouldn't be any magic weapons in Fable. The closest thing to a magic weapon in Fable is and always will be an augmented weapon, and that still doesn't cause magical or Will-based damage. Will doesn't come from weapons, it only comes from inside a Hero.

it may come from inside the hero, but you can use a wand or magic staff as a conductor ( like energy) and use it as a device to make your spells more powerful

for example thats like me saying swords are stupid because strength comes inside the hero. He should use raw fists. And i think magic weapons is a good idea, as do others think its a good idea

Will doesn't work through magical weapons, that's just not how it works in Fable. If Will could work that way, Lionhead would have already put magical weapons into the first two games. Weapons can be augmented by augmentations and spells, but that's not the same. In that situation, the spell is augmenting the weapon, the weapon isn't augmenting the spell.

It's not the same at all. Strength without weapons isn't effective. Will without weapons is.

Why are you taking one word from my post and turning it into something I never said, coz I said that harry potter involved kids waving wands around, saying gibberish.

And wands aren't needed. Wands are in harry potter and other fantasy coz the magic in the users body is to weak for it to be cast normally, so the wand is used as a conducter for the magic. This is based on your wand=will conductor theory.

In fable the magic is strong enough to be cast by just willing it, so wnads aren't needed. Its a reason that makes sense and fits in with canon.

Re: Weapon Development

But wands are sweet accessories, though!
