Not here it isnt you leave High School at 16.

Primary School (Elementary) - Age 5 - 11
Secondary School (High School) - Age 11 - 16
College - 16+

that's different from here

here it's
elementary 4-14
secondary 14-17
college or university 17+... (some americans I've heard referring to our universities as colleges for some reason)

Re: Weird City Names

What I meant was, it should be High School, Like in most schools. But Schools like Winchester Highschool changed it to Winchester College.

I do have a question, however: how can most of the people who go to college be both nineteen and twenty?

Because some wait a year to straighten things out or just to plan for the future, for instance if you want to go to a school for an undergrad or something...

My old High School changed it name to Hagley Park Sports College also but it only offers basic college qualification thats slightly higher than high school level as it is still a high school system there. They wouldnt accept those as college qualifications and you would still have to go to a certified college to gain any reputable and recognised college grade.

Re: Weird City Names

I see... both Canada and... wherever Drakan is are different-- very. Okay, no they aren't, it just seems that way.

Actually, there are even small variations between even schools in the same county here.

Mine was 4 or 5-11 or 12 (Kindergarten-6th grade) Elementary

12 or 13-13 or 14 (7th-8th grade) Middle (aka Junior High)

14 or 15-17 or 18 (Freshman-Senior/9th-12th grade) High School.

And even that changes a good deal between counties and even schools within counties. For instance, 6th was elementary for me, but others went to middle for the first time. This one school even started high at eighth.

So I don't know why we told Freak he was wrong, when it changes even within small areas.

(I just noticed... we are very off subject...)

Elementary: prescool-6th grade 6th graders= 10-11 years old.

Highschool:7th-12th drade... 7th=12, 8th= 13-14, 9th=14, 10th= 15-16, 11=16-17, 12th=18..

So you graduate at 18 here...

(Sorry if I offended anyone in this post im back to no posting now.)

Re: Weird City Names

well... this isn't really a city name... it's a street... and it's not really that weird... it just used to really amuse me hearing them announce it on the subway...
Coxwell... if you can't see why, say it outloud...

Re: Weird City Names

We here in Estonia have something many of you might like -

"Joodiku küla (Lääne-Virumaal)"

and that means Drunkards village. (I`m not really sure about the spelling, but I think you get the idea.)

Re: Weird City Names

If you mean the spelling of the english, then it's right aside from the dropping of the apostrophe between the "d" and the "s" in "Drunkard's".

And yeah, we have that (Drunkard's Village), too-- we call it "DC" or "Baltimore". [grin]
