WEP Key Troubles

Alrighty, I am having trouble here with my WEP key (obviously). Now my question. Or better yet my situation.

I have been using this ****ty old Inspiron 9100 laptop that is fat as hell to communicate to you guys, mainly because on my other computer I had to bite the bullet and reinstall Windows, and it forgot the WEP key. Now when this computer was given to my brother, I let him borrow the WEP that I ACTUALLY DID WRITE DOWN so don't call me an idiot for not doing it. Anyways, my brother lost it, and I was wondering if it was possible to read it off this one and rewrite it down? Because I'd like to reinstall Fable and start modding again.

Here is my question for people too lazy to read the above: Is it possible to find the WEP key to my router through this computer, and not have to reset my router and everything? And my dad forgot the administrator settings to change the WEP through his computer, so that is a dead end.

Re: WEP Key Troubles

well, i suppose you could search through your registry files, but im not sure in exactly which of the many folders you should look in, if its in there at all

Re: WEP Key Troubles

You have to go into the router, the wireless settings and it should display your wep there.
Open your browser and put in the ip address of the router
(to get it, go to start, run, type cmd, on the command prompt type ipconfig and look at the defeault gateway address, put that into the browser)
then get it. that's it.

good luck

TY

I remember this method, but the problem is that I don't have the admin pass to see the WEP and stuff. +rep for telling me how to get my IP :P
