i get the same thing. at first i thought it was just a glitch. with my 3rd person view all i could see in there is cages and stuff

No. You have access to that part when you first get to westcliff. If you pay barnum the money to upgrade Westcliff it is sealed off in the new town. Nothing there.

there are lots of doors that have purple outlining but you cn never open them. whats up with that?

I may of got in there once idk they are pretty much hobbe cages for the crucible why else would westcliff have them?

This particular gate opens during one of the community service quests. Bunch of hobbes come out. There's nothing of interest in there.

I had always assumed it opened when you scored 8 perfect rounds on the crucible (scored 7, got to the end of the last one but the final nerve tendril never showed up
) Like the gate in the cemetary that opens when you buy the mansion
