he hasn't posted pictures in quite a while, so i was more referring to my lasting memory of what he looks like.

Then I wholeheartedly agree with your boyfriend. Smiling sure as hell doesn't hurt, and it's only a good thing, right? Plus, it only makes oneself more cute than he or she is already!

Well, kind of hard to explain. But if I were to use an example from Fable II, it would be a young version of Barnum, or perhaps the local Town Crier. Don't ask me why, because I cannot provide an explanation myself. It's just a view that popped up out of nowhere.
