What should i do?

Well I thought I wouldn't get a 360. I thought it would not be the end of the world if i didn't try Fable 2.

But I've changed my mind, don't know what i was thinking.

So I've decided I'm going to invest in a 360. The only problem is there are a few choices and I'm horribly with decision making:
http://www.xbox.com/en-AU/hardware/x/xbox360arcadesystem/
http://www.xbox.com/en-AU/hardware/x/xbox360prosystem/ and
http://www.xbox.com/en-AU/hardware/x/xbox360elitesystem/default.htm

I'm wondering what would be most worthwhile?

Would a 20GB hard drive be enough for saves and DLC?

If I got a 360, although my primary intention would be to play Fable 2 but there are a fare few other games that interest me (well maybe 10 or 11). 20GB HD be enough for that?

Would it be worth paying an extra 149 dollars for a few extra features?

What sort of systems does everyone have?

Re: What should i do?

I have the arcade 360 with the cordless controller, cable for internet, headset. If you ever plan on going online. 20 GB, should be more than enough. I hope, cause I think that's what I have.

Always buy the extended warranty, I sent mine in and might have to again, when Fable 2 comes out, I'll be playing around the clock.

Id go for the Elite if you have the money, 120Gb is a good amount of space and wont have to worry about deleting stuff to save space. I have the core/arcade system with a 20Gb hard drive and a 64MB Memory Card to backup my saves. However the Elite is the more reliable console with the falcon chipset and has the HDMI port etc. Also depends what your going to store on there, music, DLC, saves and such.

So would it be less likely to get the RRoD than the other two consoles?

Well most the newer consoles are using the new chipsets but there are some old ones floating around in circulation. The Elites are all manufactured with it as far as im aware, so yes less chance of RRoD.

Re: What should i do?

yea i have an elite and a xbox pro 360 halo 3 legendary edition both with nice and big hardrives...but really you should invest in something you are capable of buying. of course and xbox is an xbox so you can always buy more features for it when you are able to

Re: What should i do?

I suggest getting the Premium I have a premium but I am considering getting the Elite but there is just one problem there is to much memory honestly who in the world would use 120GB on a few games, music and extra content.

Re: What should i do?

i got the elite for several reasons: 1 beacause i could afford it 2 to **** off my friends 3 cuz im just like that 4 its black 5 its the best 6 its called "elite" 7 i just wanted it. 8 im gonna stop listing reasons now.

edit: oh yeah and its also less likely to get RRod.

Re: What should i do?

Go for the Pro, or you can wait alittle longer and pick up the Pro when it's new price drop comes into effect (should be sometime this September). Saves aren't a problem, since they typically range from 100KB to about 5MB, although you'll need a bigger hard drive, if you plan on going on a shopping spree with the TV shows and Movies on there, but DLC is usually small.. like 500KB to at times 200MB.

But the Pro's 20GB (in actuality, only 13GB) is enough to hold you for plenty of game DLC's, a big bucket full of XBLA games, plenty of Themes & Avatars, and game saves.

Re: What should i do?

Thanks for the info everyone. Hmm only 13GB of space in the Pro System? I have about 12GB of music alone so i might not be able to fit everything on there. the elote is cool 'cause it's black an if its more stable thats a plus.

Will all console prices drop in around September Gikoku?

I know you can get a cable that allows you to connect the 360 to a computer moniter, but can you connect computer speakers with a sub?

You could always stream your music to the 360 like i do, so you never have to actually store any music on it.

Yeah, the missing 7GB of data is used for memory, updates, etc. Only the Pro is getting the price cut, which is down to $300.. the Core/Arcade remains at $280, and the Elite at $450 (although Amazon.com is, for a limited time selling the Elite for $400), with the newest model coming in at $350. And if you want to stream all of your music, videos, and pictures from your computer to your 360 without having to store a single song on the hard drive, then I would recommend getting a router (if you don't already have one) and an Ethernet cable, connect the 360 with the Ethernet cable to the router. And make sure you have Windows Media Player 11, after that.. it can all be taken care of with a few simple clicks (which we can help you with when the time comes).

Also, if you want a black 360, you can simply just purchase a 360 skin.. I'm pretty sure they sell black faceplates at major retails, but the body skin you'll probably have to get somewhere else.

Re: What should i do?

So i can stream all data through a PC, cool. Does that mean the 360 would run through the PC? Similar to a removable Hard Drive or an iPod?

I think i'll go with the Pro system. If save sizes are small and i can stream data through my PC it seems like a good idea.

Re: What should i do?

I mainly got the Elite because I didn't want to keep getting RRoD's, but you never know when one might strike.

Yeah if you use a router you can stream all media through the PC to your 360.

Yeah i get that, but would the 360 actually run through the PC or independently?

Would i have to go into My Computer and select "Xbox 360" or something to be able to play a game or would it just run as if it isn't connected to a PC through a router?

hope that makes sense :)

No, the the 360 would run on it's own, connecting it to the PC/router via an Ethernat cable would just allow for the streaming of content (Music, Videos, Pictures). So you wouldn't need to do anything on the computer, in order to play games or anything on the 360. And no again for the 360 acting like an iPod, since the only way to store songs on the 360 (for now) is by ripping a CD to it.

As Scott said it would run completely independently, the PC would just have to be switched on thats all.

Re: What should i do?

Ahk sweet, that makes sense thanks guys.

Hopefully I'll have a system in a couple of weeks. Can't wait for those pub games :D

Re: What should i do?

Go for the Elite, in my opinion. Unless your not getting Live, then its better off to get a regular with a 20 gig Hard Drive, but it's up to you. :)
