What's this fuss about North Korea testing missiles?

I don't think the recent news buzz is about nukes, from what I've heard it's about the failed ballistic missile. There's been some speculation that they might conduct more nuclear tests as a result, but it's nothing certain I don't think.

That said, nukes in the hands of any of these radical countries would of course be less than ideal. In some ways Israel is far more sinister than North Korea, but I'd rather have nukes there than NK. Correct me if I'm wrong but Israel have good relations with Americuur. Not trying to insinuate anything but I think we all realise how much of a global police force the US has become.

Yeah, it was a ballistic missile and not a nuke. But as you say, the are worried that it is a stepping stone on the path of nukes.

On the topic of is Israel; Israel is far more aggressive and more likely to use these types of missiles than either China, North Korea, Iran or any of the other "bad guy" countries portrayed in Western media. In fact, they are already raining smaller missiles over their neighboring countries constantly. I'm pretty sure the new North Korean dictator is just flexing his muscles to show that he is fit to fill his father's shoes.

I am not sure why I should worry; they only want a deterrent against the major forces which keep a watching eye over them. The fuss is all about extremists and probably the United States mostly which fear that one of the most anti-social countries out there is about to get its hands to the most effective deterrent.

True, but North Korea attacks South Korea as well. Not sure how frequently, but I remember a couple years ago they fired in SK waters or something. Would you say the NK leader will still be flexing his muscles after 5 years? 10 years? However long it takes to develop the nuclear weapons? They reguarly 'exterminate' generations of it's citizens, I don't think the West massively exaggerates the horrors there. I reckon all of those backwards countries drool over nuclear weapons. Whether they would use them or not's another thing.

I'd like to think he has the brains to realize what consequences a nuclear attack against South Korea would have. It is in nobody's best interest to bring about an international nuclear war, not even North Korea.

Hence nuclear deterrence is only a fool's dream, and that was proven during the Cuban Crisis.

I think it's a similar situation with Israel. Unless you think there's a strong case that Israel would use nukes on it's neighbours, I think it's unlikely that any country would risk nuclear war.

On my "loony leader scale" the fundamentalist nutcases that currently run Israel rank waaaay above the rest. However, as we've established North Korea didn't test a nuke; but a ballistic missile. I'm sure Israel has used smaller version of it against Palestine.

Because

a. They are religious nutters too boot.
b. They are currently in an active conflict(Which I would say is based on their aggression. Some disagree)..

Iran is ruled by by religious nutters as well, sure but Iran hasn't attacked anyone in modern history. They're all bark and no bite with all their "The western world is the devil!". North Korea are ruled by (Or was. Judgement is not out on the son yet) a militant nut. They tend to be more rational in their megalomaniac tendencies.

Sounds like Arizona to me.

What's the fuss with Israel? I'm genuinely curious, give me all the details, all I know is we basically stole land to make their country, that's my asshole knowledge of Israel.

After World War II everyone (the Western world) felt sorry for the Jews and gave them their "Promised Land" by stealing a sizable chunk of land and renaming it Israel for the Jews to live there. Of course, this ****ed of the people who were living there and most of the Arab/Muslim world (this is why they are mad at the Western world for "supporting Israel"). Over the the years the government of Israel has become more and more religiously fundamental and nutty and gradually their "Promised Land" started to include more and more of the land around Israel so they've run an aggressive campaign, not unlike Nazi Germany, of expansion to steal more and more - I mean reclaim - of their Promised Land.

To add to the mess, the Western world can't condem the actions of Israel because they were the ones who started it all. Had an Arab/Muslim country bullied their neighbours in the same fashion we would've rolled in the tanks in an instant. Not to mention the Anti-Semitism card Israel is quick to use to deflect any and all critism.
