There's 50K in the treasurechest. But by the waterfall there is a book with a poem in it that reads the following:

Oh...both the chest in the demon door and the one in the throne room contain 50,000 gold...crap at this point in the game, but...a legendary weapon after the end would be a bit sad and useless too...
