Will he continue to overhype his games?

Who besides me thinks peter molyneux or however you spell it, will never learn not to overhype his games to death?

Re: Will he continue to overhype his games?

Peter suffers from too much optimism, he probably tried to put everything he said into the game, but in the end didn't work out.
Besides, a lot of video game devs do the same thing, though some don't try.

I didn't find Fable II hyped to death at all.

Re: Will he continue to overhype his games?

I know, it is stupid that he releases all of the info too early though!!!!

Does this mean you like dethklok too?

Re: Will he continue to overhype his games?

The thing with Mr Molyneux is he is passionate about his products and he speaks about his 'ideas' before he can figure out how to pull them off properly. Then sometimes after speaking extensively about an idea he wants to do he realises its a little ambitious and he cant pull it off as well as he would have liked. He comes up with these perfect game ideas in his head and peoples dream games and just cant put all those ideas into a working product and some have to be dropped due to development time and technical restraints. If he wanted to achieve everything in a game he would require a Duke Nukem Forever type of development cycle.

The company must hate him lol, you can just see some suited executive in the wings facepalming and going "Somebody shut him up..."

Hes the vision, passion and thought behind Lionhead so i doubt it.

Should keep his PR mouth caged until the games are 3/4 done though so they can get as many of the initial ideas into the games first.

Re: Will he continue to overhype his games?

Well yeah, obviously they need his ideas, but it puts a lot of pressure ont he developers to do stuff which maybe just isn't possible.

Its the 'maybe' that he feeds on. Maybe it is possible but maybe it isnt, either way he will try and do it and envision something that breaks the mould.

I Totally Agree; I have been following Peter Molyneux since 'Black & White'; and apart from Fully Deserving his UK and French Knighthoods; I feel that in Fable 1 he introduced and was Completely Successful in incorporating 'Emotion' into a Video Game; and in Fable 2 he has incorporated 'Unconditional Love'; I feel that these are Massive Steps within the Gaming industry; and apart from 'See The Future' being Very innovative; I feel that we have Much More to come from Peter Molyneux

Re: Will he continue to overhype his games?

Of course it was overhyped, and I was a bit disappointed. I expected the best RPG game ever, and that isn't what I got. A lot of the features he hyped about weren't in the game, such as growing plants in real time.

Re: Will he continue to overhype his games?

this is why I don't follow hype - for anything; be it films, music, books or games. I prefer to make my own assessment based on coming to it from a completely impartial perspective. Makes it more enjoyable that way, for me.

I just think it's good to come across someone who is so passionate about their work and even when the general consensus is that they haven't delivered, it doesn't seem to dampen their enthusiasm one bit. They still keep dreaming up new concepts, trying out ideas and when you're that excited about something, of course you're going to talk about it. I personally prefer buying from someone who gives a crap about their products even if they sometimes don't fully meet expectations than from someone who couldn't care less whether what they do is worth it or not.

I just wonder what his newest game is? It will be at E-3. I hope it's a game I like.:hmm: It might be shown tomorrow at IGN, and microsoft.

^Yes?

Re: Will he continue to overhype his games?

Angel is right, avoid the hype! If you sit around going "wow there's gonna be trolls!" and then you get the game and play and fight the trolls you'll be all "Trolls? is that it?!" If you don't know what's coming the pleasure is greater! (wow did that sound dodgy!)
