This was an idea taken from one of the very early concepts of the first Fable title while it was still only known as Project Ego. The idea was dropped back then but it looked like a great system at the time.

I like the new levelling system, I just think the Will User got the crappy end of the deal. I like looking mystical, not wrinkley.

I didn't know that the leveling system was one of the things scrapped in the first Fable. However, it's nice to see that they integrated such mechanic into the game, leveling has been a basic thing for RPG's since ages.

Though, Fable III is more Action than RPG, it still is good to see that they used one of their old ideas, hopefully it will work in a good way in Fable III. I guess that we will see soon.

I sure hope so. Fable 2 disappointed me, and I was EXCITED for it when it came out. Now that I'm actually worried, I wonder if I have MORE reason to worry? It just sucks knowing that my favorite battle mechanic now involves sacrificing my characters' youth, instead of gaining a neat decoration of awesome blue markings and glowing eyes.

I wonder if over-using skill would make my character too much tall. I mean, I wish I could keep my character around a normal size, I actually don't want some huge muscular hero that's like a titan compared to Albion people.

I'm glad that they have improved females in Fable III. I had to play the game with just skill and shrinking potions in order to keep the character in a "normal" form of the body, without making the hero look like the wife of Hulk.

Re: Will user - From will-markings to liverspots

Or just not use physique. Diachi plus reversals = win, everything else goes down with headshots.

Yeah, pretty much, unless you can get through Fable 3 without having to actually hit anyone, it's seeming like your character is gonna change SOMEHOW unless they have potions or something to reverse/halt/alter the effects.

It's most unlikely they will have such potions on release. I would count on that as a DLC, such as Knothole Island. Seems like the character will change based on how you level. For example, if you use mostly swords, you'll get strength levels, therefore you have more muscles. However when you use guns many times, you get more skill therefore become taller, though when you use will you look older, wiser and magic.

Yeah, cept the magic part. From what I heard, you just prematurly age. I hated Fable 1 for that. Fable 2 it was okay in - because in Fable 2 you could choose not to do it (though sometimes I would be good and do it - because then I had the choice and it was not something brought on by my method of fighting/leveling.) Now you got choice... just means if you dont' want to grow in a certain way you have to forsake or limit a certain method of combat, which means I won't get the fun part of becoming a walking magical nightmare unless I wanna become grampa.

True, that's indeed one of the worst side-effects of Fable's mechanic, however it keeps you limited in many ways, because the choice of what to use is up to you, when in Fable II we had the chance to unlearn our skills too.

Yeah, but they removed the GUI and levelling occurs automatically, so it's safe to assume such is not the case. Besides, I love levelling spells - they always start out incredibly crappy, but once they're up there, I believe they become the most potent form of combat. Apparantly, Lionhead -REALLY- loves the idea of choice and consequence, because now you can't even look the way you want to unless the way you want to look works with your usual fighting method.

I'm just happy my evil as hell character won't have blue glowing lines all over them....
they looked like extras from a 80's music video!

Nope. Instead, your evil character is gonna grow old and raggedy and look like Darth Sidius or something like that.

I don't think that the player will look THAT OLD. However, of course you will look old and wise, but honestly, I don't think they will make you look like the emperor.

Perhaps, you'll look like that if you have maximum corruption and some good points. Because, I believe that evil characters will look more like demons anymore, you know with the Fable II horns and the Fable III wings add some magic usage, this is getting too much Illidan.

I like to believe that if you're good, the most you'll see is white hair (cause admittedly white hair would be cool - I just dun like the wrinkles) and HOPEFULLY they'll retain glowing eyes (I love glowing eyes... I don't know why) Aside all that, as long as the change aint TOO drastic I can deal.

Also, it seems gun use got the better end of the deal - you grow "thinner and slender" from the use of ranged weaponry, according to what I read.

Yes, that's what I believe about ranged weaponry, it makes you longer, thinner and more agile with your weapons. I believe that's one of the three disciplines that someone should master. However, again if you have some corruption and neutral, some good points you might end up looking like Bayonetta.

Something's tells me that most of the people will go strength this time too, though. I still don't see whats cool into having a bulldozer hero that's like 2 meters.

Re: Will user - From will-markings to liverspots

Well, As always, I'm a skill user with just barely enough strength to allow me to engage in some badass swordplay, and like 1-3 spells.

Re: Will user - From will-markings to liverspots

WHAT!?!?!? No more blue will vein things!?!?!?!? This is an outrage!!! And they're being replaced by... by... GAUNTLETS!!?!?!?!?! What is the meaning of this???? This is a monstrosity... I'm really disappointed by this... Can you tell?

Actually the Gauntlets mechanic seems to be good enough. I mean, Albion's going forward with technology and ages, the old ways of the will have started to be long and slowly forgotten by the people.

In Fable II magic was rare and uncommon, in Fable III magic will be something restricted to the hero and few creatures. Of course casting a spell in the middle of a town will scary the people for sure.
