Will Wright leave EA?

Turns out he already has (anyone notice my play on words?). Will Wright, the creative mind behind the Sims franchise and Spore has left EA and Maxis to concentrate full time on a side project called the Stupid Fun Club.

I hate EA with a passion. I loathe the Sims series, but not as much as I hate EA. Good on him.

I don't understand why people hate the Sims so much.

That being said, I don't quite understand why I like it, either.

Meh Sims was Good when I was Younger.

Don't listen to him. Spore is a good game. Replayability is questionable, but it's still good.

I personally enjoyed sims, I enjoyed Sims 2 more... It isn't a addicting gamne just fun... And while I hate EA, as a hardcroe RTS and FPS PC gamer its hard to avoid them so... While they suck I still have to say, they were right to fund Westwood (Even though they ripped their happy limps off) And Sims wasn't that bad, quite fun if your in the mood.

Not to mention a helluva lot of content was cut for the only reason that EA wanted to shell it out later as expansion packs á la The Sims.

I agree that EA are just money grabbing giants, but they have still made some good games.

Just coz a game could have been better doesn't make it a bad game.

And I really don't care about the spyware stuff. I perform system purges regularly (which, come to think of it, makes me alot like Stalin) so its generally not a long term thing.

EA doesn't "make" games. They are a publisher. They take other peoples work and take a big neat dump on it before it hit the stores.

I played spore and it was so so for me it had a good start but then went all down hill for me

I think without EA pushing him to release games so fast and with 1 million expansions on every platform including a toaster it will allow his creative mind to flourish again. Hopefully he will have time to come up with more good ideas and not milk ideas that have long became stale.

I'm excited to find out what comes out of Stupid Fun Club. It sounds like it's going to be a middlewear company but unlike what is on the market today. I wish them great success mainly because the gaming industry could really use some fresh ideas.
