Wlanapi.dll issue

Well, I recently installed Windows XP Ultimate and in trying to reinstall my wireless network adapter I have come across a somewhat major issue. It installs fine, but it wont run. I get the error

The procedure entry point aspGetInterfaceCount could not be found in the dynamic link library wlanapi.dll

Now, on startup I get a similar error message (along with the above one) with a different entry point. I've tried replacing the dll, no luck there. This is really driving me up the wall. I can't get onto the internet because I can't set up my network card, and therefore I can't download any of the Hardware drivers that I need even to do offline things. My computer is useless! If anyone could help me I will give them a thousand years of happiness.

Re: Wlanapi.dll issue

you should try moving your internet settings around a bit in the control panel

Re: Wlanapi.dll issue

Believe me my friend I have been fiddling around in there for the past three hours. I've tried all the network wizards I could find. Thanks for your help anyway. :(

Re: Wlanapi.dll issue

Ive had the same problem since january, I have given up on it, and am not gonna deal wiht it anytime soon, but best of luck on your journey of finding the missing .dll file.

Re: Wlanapi.dll issue

But it's not missing. It's there, there's just something wrong with it each time I reinstall Windows and even when I download a replacement it doesn't seem to help. :(

Re: Wlanapi.dll issue

Now that you mention it, it was there. Windows suggestion thing didnt work. Vista sucks.

Re: Wlanapi.dll issue

Ha! I fixed it. Man that was tough. I realised that the new OS had locked wlanapi.dll from being used by other programs, namely my network card driver. All I had to do was let Windows do my networking, and viola!

Re: Wlanapi.dll issue

Well glad you got it sorted before i started my research into fixing it.

Re: Wlanapi.dll issue

Mine works, but every time I login to my comp it says it's missing, but it only doesn't open the utility for it :P

Re: Wlanapi.dll issue

Step 1. Click on the Start > Run and type in ‘msconfig’ (without quote). Click ‘OK’ button.

Step 2. In the System Configuration Utility window, choose the Startup tab
In the Startup Items locate “AirGCFG” and also “WZCSLDR2”. Uncheck both of these items. Press OK.

Step 3. Click Restart button to restart your computer.

Step 4. After the computer restart, you should get the following popup window. Please tick the ‘Don’t show
this message’ box and click OK. The error message should stop coming up any more.
