WoW Question

So im trying to install World of Warcraft and it said I didnt have enough RAM. The min. requirement is 512 MB of it. I un-installed Civ. IV and the Sims 2, Civ. 4 is also 512 MB and Sims 2 is 256 MB. It still says this.Shouldn't this have freed up enough space. What am I doing wrong?

Re: WoW Question

Did you go to control panel and safely uninstall program?

It might not be completely off... (the games u uninstalled)

Thats not RAM you are freeing up thats Hard Drive space. If you havent got enough RAM to run a game you need to buy some more.

Oh.. I guess I figured I had enough RAM cuz I had a lot of other games that needed the same amount of RAM that worked fine (eg. Civ. 4), and I un-installed them. So, that didnt help?

No uninstalling them wouldnt have freed up RAM, only way RAM is used is if you say 'run' 2 programs at once so make sure NOTHING else is running when you try and play it and you make sure there are no unneeded background tasks running. You made sure all your other specs match up?

Re: WoW Question

Always have more than the minimum amount of RAM for a game or application. Especially online games, because the necessary RAM can spike up to 700+, thereby crashing the application. Honestly, a gigabyte of RAM is pretty cheap these days, maybe 70-90 bucks at Staples/BestBuy/Newegg.

Yeah thats true, online games the RAM usage can spike at any moment and cant predict by how much.

Its fairly cheap and try to ask someone who knows about it so you can make sure you get the best use out of it.

Re: WoW Question

There are also a lot of things that can chew up ram try checking task manager to see what is using ram

But ask someone who knows about it so you get right type and size for your computer as certain types arent compatible with others.
