Re: XBOX 360 V2 (Zephyr 360)

Microsoft is just trying to get their way into our minds and advertise their way to sales  Lets just face it

I'm fine with my current 360

Well the extended warranty to 3 years helped that, sign of good faith and also nice of them as they didnt have to do it, most was exaggerated by media anyway.

You just can't keep a good rumor down

Here's more on the next XboX :360:

According to GameCrazy stores, a new price update got added to its system listed as GM-XBOX 360 (black/120 GB) US$479.99 NEW $439.99 USED. This news was posted on Cheap *** Gamer by an employee of GameCrazy. Since the listing had a price, it meant the machine could also be pre-ordered. Later on, the listing was given a price of $0.00 on its system so as to stop pre-orders. The new listing is also due to arrive on May 1, 2007.

Geek.com Geek News - Updated Xbox 360 on the way?

Is a new Xbox 360 SKU headed to retail or not? Well both 1UP and Game Informer reported on the matter over the weekend with varying bits of information and in light of recent price drop rumors.1UP suggests that Microsoft may have lowered existing 360 shipments in an effort to flush out old inventory in favor of newly enhanced hardware; like consoles with HDMI support and a larger hard drive.

Good finds again Todd +rep

Re: XBOX 360 V2 (Zephyr 360)

I'm not 100% sure if this is true but Microsoft must have something like this planned anyway. The console desparately needs a tune-up and this could be the way forward. A processor that is quiet enough to allow you to think, a larger hard-drive for the upcoming Live! Tv, HDMI to actually bring the 360 upto to full HD standards. It all makes so much sense. Apparently to retail at the current price too which isn't a bad either. Hope this is real, my current 360 has already developed a few quirks and I could do with a fresh piece of kit.

Re: XBOX 360 V2 (Zephyr 360)

I won't be 100% sure until I see an ad in Best Buy. Until then I'll just remain unrealistically optimistic.

Rumors still kicking around

Xbox 360 major revision on the horizon?

Rumours are circulating that Microsoft is preparing to steal some of the PS3’s thunder with a major update to the xbox 360, which when launched may become the Xbox 361.
Lack of an HDMI on the current incarnation of Microsoft's games console is seen as a major limitation when compared to Sony’s offering and along with the addition of a 120Gb hard drive will be the two main revisions to the Xbox 360.

Keeping the dream alive

Xboxic » Xbox 360 Premium takes Core place at 299?

Before continuing, let us emphasize that, pending Microsoft confirmation, the information below is strictly rumor territory. However, we wouldn’t post it unless we had some good reasons for believing the info to be authentic, so here it is: the Core pack will be canceled, the Premium will drop to 299 euro, the black HDMI-supporting 360 will be launched this May, and finally Halo 3 will hit stores right before Christmas 2007. Too good to be true? Read on!

Babelfished for your Engrish pleasure:
From reliable sources we experienced now that Microsoft plans release of a new Xbox 360 version in May 2007. The new Xbox 360 will that already admits black model to be, which has an HDMI exit and a larger non removable disk (120 GB). The price of the new Xbox 360 will lie between €350 and €450, an exact product name is not present, the internal code name Zephyr is rather improbable as sales designation

“Microsoft does not comment on rumors or speculation” which usually means it’s true. However, we at Xboxic also have some deep throats in the Redmond Giant’s ranks, who suggested the Xbox team has some tricks up its sleeve for the next week, with the impending European release of arch rival PlayStation 3 on March 23rd. Putting A and B together we wouldn’t at all be surprised if an Xbox 360 pricedrop was officially announced somewhere this month

AK says: IF you are thinking about getting an Xbox wait at least until the PS3 Launch in the UK

Xbox 360 Elite: new, black limited edition Xbox with HDMI and 120GB drive - Engadget

gamepro said:
The validity of this story has so far been met with particular reservation due to the fact that this information is contained within the April issue, therefore opening up the possibility that it may be an April Fool's prank. Still, Game Informer senior editor Matt Helgeson assures Kotaku that it's not, claiming that, as a rule, GI does not post fake news within the month of April.

Re: XBOX 360 V2 (Zephyr 360)

Seems like the rumor mill is in high production
Takahashi, the author of behind-the-scenes books about both the Xbox and the sequel, wrote in his San Jose Mercury News column Saturday night that the new console will go on sale soon for $479 and will feature some new, more advanced tools.

Free publicity for Microsoft. If they are really only making a limited supply then they won't need to advertise just announce it to the press and stand back.

Xbox 360 Elite – More 'Information'

$479, HDMI-enabled, 120GB hard drive, IPTV capability

The ever-reliable Dean Takahashi over on The San Jose Mercury News this weekend stated that his (still anonymous) sources at Microsoft have confirmed all of the above, stating, “It’s true that Microsoft is preparing to announce the Xbox 360 Elite, a version of the game console with black plastic and advanced features. Several sources confirmed Microsoft plans to add this box to its product line. The new box will go on sale in limited quantities soon for $479 (£245)… I believe it will have an HDMI connector so that you can connect at the highest speed to a high-definition TV. It will come with a 120-gigabyte hard disk drive and will have IPTV capability.”

Xbox 360 Elite to be Announced on Wednesday?

Meanwhile, in the other side of the Pacific Ocean, Australian newspaper The Sydney Morning Herald reports that Microsoft Australia will make on Wednesday a "major announcement" to coincide with the first birthday of the Xbox 360 in the Land Downunder

Re: XBOX 360 V2 (Zephyr 360)

A brand spanking new black 360? To me, it doesn't seem like the original 360's been out for all that long, though if you really look at it, it's been around a about year now.

Its a rumour at the minute but quite a solid rumour and more and more details are pointing towards truth. More an upgrade to entice people from PS3 again and would be an excellent marketing move ^_^
