Xbox Connection Help Please?

Ok wasn't sure where to put this so here should do.

I want to connect my Xbox to Live via my laptop to save the best part of a £50 adapter. It's Vista and it's on Wi-Fi Broadband. I test the Media Connection and it's good till it gets to the IP. Then it fails. It's on automatic. Here is what I've done:

1. Bridged connections
2. Pluged in Ethernet Cable
3. Tested

Then it says "IP failed."

Any ideas on how to fix this? If you need more info then just ask, but when answering please answer in detail and provide links, otherwise I'm not gonna understand! ^_^

I KNOW WHAT TO DO!

This happened to my friend once.. All you do is go.

"Restard Factory Settings" or something like that.. "Factory Defaults" I think? I did that for him and it worked!

^NO! Im right! Haha. Well it worked for me and Its exactly the same situation as it was with my friend.. Im pretty sure. If it doesnt work well im sorry.

Ok I'll try and "Restard Factory Settings" :L
Can you tell me where that is? On my Laptop or on the Xbox?

Edit: Nope can't find it. Althought I've been looking on teh internetz and isn't "Restarting Factory Settings" like resetting your whole computer?

Have a gander around system setting and the network stuff, it'll be there. Itll be good for you anyway, learning where everything is.

EDIT: Now it tells me that the PC selected has failed?! MOTHERFFF..... (Floods all of England with motherfness*

EDIT: of EDIT: Apparently my "Top of the line new Vista laptop" doesn't have WMP 11? Time to install...

Lol I can't find a download link. It seems that my laptop came installed with WMP 11 though? I'm just not sure now...

Edit: Ok now this is really peeing me off. It's failing the IP Address test again. Sorry for being so much of a hastle and all but why?

Edit: of Edit: Now it's working again? I think I might have figured it out. I have a computer downstairs which was what I set up my modem with. I turned it on and it works :wacko: Anyways I know what to do. I have to enable Network and Sharing. Although I'm a whizz at computer knowledge when it comes to code and downloading, this is not my forte. Here goes...
