Thank You! I ended up using tweak UI, such a nifty program! Helped me get rid of those ugly pixelated arrows used on shortcuts too! I'm using some crappy little acer net-book that has a cracked screen.. the dead pixels are actually recovering or they were in just a very very deep "stuck" state for a little while. I've replaced all my icons with mac icons... kind of a stupid move in terms of trouble shooting but oh well! Thanks for your help though!Tools, Folder Options, use Windows classic folders.

Mac.
PSHHHHHHHHHHH.
...anything Adobe is dual platform. why would running the same program on one OS be different than running it on another?I'm a graphic designer. OSX has the best support for media creation software (photoshop, etc).
I don't use Final Cut Studio. I use Aperture 3, PhotoShop, Logic Studio(sometimes) and a few others... 2 of which integrate directly with OSX. I'm not saying Adobe's applications are more powerful when used on OSX (in fact Flash reduces my battery by like 3 hours in basic browsing).. I'm saying that Apple is a company that creates professional software that is specifically designed to integrate with OSX and that creates for a seamless use of said applications. I think you missed the "etc" there... I used PhotoShop as an example because many non mac users aren't aware of Apples professional software....anything Adobe is dual platform. why would running the same program on one OS be different than running it on another?
Mac does own the market for video and audio editing, but that isn't because the best programs are exclusively for the Mac; it's because anywhere that you might work with it professionally buys a Mac and the most popular professional software by default. i don't know much about audio software, but in terms of video this is how i've come to understand it.
for instance even you trained to use more difficult/superior or equal software (i.e. Premier, Vegas) it would be worthless because anywhere that you would be hired to edit video would automatically have Final Cut Pro installed. the wall street journal doesn't buy a Mac and Final Cut because it's better than the alternatives, they do because that's what their competitors do. it's just a monopoly like any other.
I think "double" is highly exaggerated. Yes, you can buy some crappy HP notebook for $500 dollars. But what you get with a $500 HP is vastly different then what you get with a Macbook or a Macbook Pro. BTW, I'm not too sure Microsoft alternatives exist knowing Microsoft is a software company and produces very little hardware.Apple likes to make things as compact as possible, and they build their products from materials that are extremely easy to recycle. While I applaud both of these things, it can make the product cost upward of double the price of what you could get for a Microsoft equivalent.
I don't care about size or the environment that much to pay double. <3
