  • By "he starved people" I assume you're referring to the famines that accompanied collectivization and industrialization? How is THAT relative? Do you think that communism can't lead to starvation?

And... here's the thing-- you say that communism isn't marked by a dictatorship. Then why do states professing communism tend so sharply towards dictatorial forms? Theory's nice, but I don't think that you can claim that communism is one thing when every attempt to put it into practice has been another.
Please, convince me. How was it not in line with communist ideals?

EDIT: Incidentally, Stalinism doesn't refer to the ideology-- it refers to the form of government.
EDIT2: I feel dumb. I just posted that to my own page. Sorry.
Didn't... coincide? Says who? Stalin didn't think he was being a good little capitalist. He really, truly believed that he was in the interregnum-kinda period when the revolutionary "dictatorship of the proletariat" would make the transition to true communism. No, he didn't think they had achieved communism. But that's what he thought he was doing.

It ain't pretty, but it's true.
No, it's not the perfect idea. It's an okay ideaL. And/or a nice fantasy. The problem being that communism requires perfect PEOPLE. There being a distinct lack of that most mythical of beasts, the idea can't be perfect. It's not perfect if it's completely impractical.

Plus, I wouldn't consider it perfect because, being the nicely capitalist soul that I am, I don't want people completely removing my right to own what I earn. On the other hand, I DO work for the government (if you want to look at it that way.) After all, working for a public library is not the most capitalistic of pursuits.

Additionally, who says Stalin abused the ideas of communism? Hey, he believed devoutly. He just thought that the best way to bring about the revolution was through a strong Soviet Union. And of course, he was the best man to lead it. He just did what he had to.
Let's not take over AK's news thread with an argument. Not that I actually have anything to say in reply to your last post, but I thought I'd try to head it off before we got started.
Shirosaki? Is that like Ichigo's evil white part of him? (I looked at ya picture and took a guess) I've never heard of him before.. But then again I dont really watch Bleach anymore..

You lucky goose. Now when it's night time, I'll be able to see you, cause you're green. Haha.
Did Steve just add that to the Bard Title?
Hi mate. I'm not doing too bad. How's about yourself? I'll look into the Arcade thing for you now. You should be able to view it now, so obviously something has gone wrong somewhere down the line. Can you see the second navigation bar at the moment?

Edit: Wait, nevermind. I see the problem now. Everything should be sorted.
