Cheesiness in Fable 3? Ugh, I hope not...

Fable can be quite humorous sometimes. Loading Screens, books, weapons, clothing, quests, names, places... it has a hint of humor in it. And I like it.

What I HATED was the way some people acted, or what they said, making me not want to play Fable 2.

Such of these would be...

---

Digging up an item, the Hero says "Yeah!"

When unleashing your powers in the Guild Cave at the start, your Hero yells, and it sounds stupid.

The Highwayman who says "Stand and fight you cowardly naives!"

Whenever Garth yells after being restored to full power.

The various expressions such as the Growl, Extort, Roar etc etc.

---

I understand now that the touch system may fix the expression problem.

But don't you think these things made Fable a bit... messed up.. it just didn't sound right to me.

I rather enjoyed the 'Stand and fight you cowardly knaves!" bit, it made me feel more like smashing his face in.

However, I agree, the other sounds were a bit stupid. They can't get rid of all of them (and I'm not going to ask them to), but they should get rid of the repetitive ones (like the noise the Hero makes when he's digging).

Seconded.

And I Rather Liked It. Lionhead's humor is pretty funny, and I have to say I get the scream in the guild cave, you just got magic flowing in you. Yeah, the dig sound annoys me after the 4th time in a row :p

I liked the cheesy expressions that was one of the things that defined it as a Fable game.

Now some things were funny, such as the Placebo Potion, "It's Just a Fleshwound" deal, blah blah blah...

But the things Lionhead didn't intend to be funny, were just cheesy,

Dangeroulsy cheezy.

Seriously, what's wrong with a little cheese? The game was never exactly the most serious, and absurd corniness doesn't take much away, and almost kinda adds something.

@ Evil Pakman: Yeah, that I hate too. But they wouldn't even have to change that text, or something, even people didn't fall in love with you by just a little dancing... o_O'

For the rest: I like some of the cheesiness, I guess. It's what makes Fable, uhm... Fable! But some things are just plain stupid, like what Evil Pakman said. I think it's okay for people to get inpatient to get married. After all, you dearly love that person, and you believe that person love you back. It's just really annoying if everybody falls in love with you, and there for EVERYBODY is asking you that...

So it's not really cheesiness you're against, it's cliche fantasy RPG themes you're against.

Re: Cheesiness in Fable 3? Ugh, I hope not...

No... its just simple things that make the game appear... I am not sure what the word is.

I mean whenever you're in the Chamber of Fate, your Hero yells... that sounds dumb imo... But it is only opinion. And I dare not change the game for my own good, I try not to be selfish.

They could've made it a bit better. Yeah its a scream, but it could've been better recroded.

--

I've played as a chick quite a few times... and let me tell you, her scream is absolutely awful, and her digging dialogue... "Yeah!".... I just hate it. It makes me feel stupid when they do it.

Fable I didn't have this type of stuff in it, and Fable I feels more like "Fable" than Fable II does.

idk, maybe it's just me.

Don't know what you're talking about with the "yelling in the Chamber of Fate" bit, but if it makes you feel better, it does seem that the whole touch-system-deal is going to make it harder to have an entire village following you around in a lovestruck mass just by walking thorough.

EDIT: Wait, what do you mean Fable 1 didn't have that stuff in it? I don't remember what the Hero said when you dug something up (did I conjugate "to dig" correctly? No damn idea) but I do know he said something. And thrust his hand in the air, as I recall.

Re: Cheesiness in Fable 3? Ugh, I hope not...

I think he says "Haha!"

Its better than the whispery "Yeah" in Fable 2.

What I meant by I not having that in it, was I meant Fable I didn't seem corny or cheesy to me.

The Hero yells when he gains his 'true' power in the Chamber of Fate. Its when you first get there in the game.

Is it just me, or does this sound like John Cleese? The actual Highwayman himself, I was playing the other day and heard that line and thought to myself " That sounds like John Cleese!".

He's one of the main Monty Python brothers :). He also is voice acting in the third Fable game.

I knew about the voice acting, just didn't know who he was... and why he was so famous amongst us.

So I guess this is where "It's just a flesh wound" plays into Fable? lol

Never seen a Monty Python movie. Never knew who the guy was really.

Lol, I guess so. I would recommend atleast seeing one Monty Python Movie, just for the experience. If you think you would like the off-brand style of British humor of course :p. Maybe rent or buy Monty Python's "The Meaning of Life" or "The Holy Grail" :).
