Fable 4... steampunk fable?

You know how fable is advancing but its somehow well accepted that it won't go into an era like ours? Well what if it became a steampunk fable. With flying machines and airships and stuff. It's been bugging me for a while so i wanted to share this thought.

Like it'd be more acceptable in a steampunk world than a world like ours to be fighting with magic and swords and guns against mythical creatures and stuff.

I agree with that! The idea of a modern/futuristic fable isn't bad...its actually kinda awesome!

Sounds like a halfway decent idea. I just don't want them taking the game TOO far into the future. Though it is rumored the last two games will be about the Old Kingdom.

Steampunk Fable could be either really great or really terrible. I'd rather play a prequel, maybe something before the guild was made?

Sounds like a halfway decent idea. I just don't want them taking the game TOO far into the future. Though it is rumored the last two games will be about the Old Kingdom.

I wish this will be the new Fable: a game with William Black and all the stuff related. A Fable in a steampunk way, in my honest opinion, will suck. Alot.

I think Fable 5 will probably take us back to the start of it all. It might depend on how final they want to be with it though.

If they are dead serious about it being a 5 game series and thats it, Fable 4 might take you back to the start before Fable 5 sees the end of the hero line, which would basically tie the entire story up. Unlikely tho since it would make a Fable 6 tricky companies kinda hate killing of successful franchises.

Cool idea.

However I'd like it if the automobile were invented. Remember when it first came out? Those old-timey cars, you know, and like a few in each city, huge factories, the 'early 1900 Britain/America' in Fable dude.

Thing is though, like for a final game, I would wish they'd let us choose an era of time for us. Like say the final game we travel as an immortal from beginning of the fable universe to an end. And once the game be completed we can choose era's we'd like to live in via time machine.

Believe it or not (and this is just a silly theory I have mind you) but I think it's possible for them to do both at the same time. We know almost nothing about the Old Kingdom and its technology so who's to say the Old Kingdom wasn't more advanced than we currently are? Sure seems like it what with the Spire, those shards, the artifacts, etc.

There is a small possibility that Fable IV will have steampunk elements to it while still allowing us to enjoy all the magical wonders of the Old Kingdom.

The old kingdom was destroyed by the spire...
so everyone had to start from scratch...
But I think the old kingdom was more powered by will.
I remember Garth saying that "all old kingdom artifacts respond to will"
So unless they advance in era's I doubt there'd be a steampunk era. And I'm pretty sure they'd advance it at one point. If not 4, then 5. How many sequels were confirmed anyway? It went above 5, i'm sure...
But the main reason I brought up steampunk era is that they simply can't advance into any era similar to ours, because it wouldn't work or even seem right. The steampunk era is an alternate kind of universe which in my opinion would seem more suitable for a fable kind of game...

It's been confirmed that were will only be five Fable games and we're already up to number three. Yes but he may have meant certain items such as the little music box, the shards or the spire. Still... nothing says steampunk and magic can't coexist, right?

Just watch Castle in the Sky: Laputa by Hayao Miyazaki. That's set in a steampunk era. It's a pretty old movie too...

This is why fans shouldn't make video game extensions. Fable series is great, and futuristic would not only ruin the point, but change it completely. It would be like star wars or something, and not Fable. It has made a name of itself for being in its time era. I think we should respect that.
