Re: Great. I Broke My iPod Touch.

Oh man that really sucks, Sorry to hear. I also have a itouch 2nd gen. I also got it for christmas, I believe i have a 2 year warranty tho.. But anyways im pretty sure you can send it in and get it fixed, only prob is i think theres a fee. plus the shipping. Im not 100% sure. Also as you said, Before you send it, if you even do. Remove that jailbreak. They will send it back in a second. I guess soon with the iphones they are going to make jailbreaking illegal which i think is stupid.. But once again, Sorry man, there isnt really much you can do.
Buy a new one
buy a used one
send it in
dont have one at all
hope it helps some what

Re: Great. I Broke My iPod Touch.

Wow, my brother was feeling so bad about this he is actually thinking of buying me a new one. I'm surprised. Still gonna stick with sending it in though. I'm probably gonna just buy an authenticator from Blizzard.

God, I gotta stop playing WoW. It is even preventing me from sending my iPod in. I need to get a life. Stat.

Alright, as the name says, I've broken my iPod Touch. Well, not completely, the screen is freaking spiderweb cracked at the top. Still responds so I can type this out, too. Guess I should be happy enough then. Now I know I can send it in, just have to unjailbreak it to restore the warranty. Now 1 major problem• with that. My iPod has the mobile authenticator for my World of Warcraft account, in other words, I can't log in without it, and I really don't want to unregister it as my account was hacked about a week ago. So this is bad. Bad bad bad. And another thing that is bugging me about this is that this was a present for Christmas that my mom worked so damn hard on to get for me, because my dad wouldn't allow such an expensive gift. Also the year before I had to pitch in 200 bucks for my gift. But I'm trailing off, sorry. So how it happened? Here ya go.

So today was my brothers birthday, and me being poor, couldn't get him anything. Then I decided to download him that new Billy Talent album he was gonna get. Please don't hound my ass about piracy right now, not in the mood. Anywho, he thought that was cool, so he brings down his iPod and syncs it. Then he forgets it. Hours pass as I'm losing my soul to WoW, then I look at a clock and almost crap myself to find out it is 4am. So I shut all my stuff down, trying to balance it all, and eventually, all is secure but my iPod. So I go up the stairs and I go to put my foot down slowly and I feel one of my cats, so I try to place my foot somewhere else, and I can't. So I drop it, and later realize what happened. I broke the screen.

Now I really feel like a douche. I just broke the best Christmas present I've ever had. Something I use every day, and damn expensive. Now I believe it when they call me an irresponsible moron. I just hope I still have warranty on this thing.

Now, for future reference, Gunman, shut up, and don't troll my thread.

I should hit you for that.
Accidents happen, for instance, I fell into my tv, broke it.It was a christmas present, BUT, wasn't my fault.
You don't even have an apartment or whatever, how can you be irresponsible?I think they call that BEING YOUNG.
I was so ecstatic when I got my Oblivion game for my burfday one year, but it fell off my shelf, and lo and behold, I FREAKIN' STEPPED ON IT.
And we haven't really talked, but I think you're a pretty damn cool guy, and (Excuse this next part here) f--- anyone who says you're an irresponsible moron.

Almost as pointless as the name change thread.

And Skotekal, if you cannot handle me being formal, then you have some serious decisions to make.

This is neither the time, nor place Gunman, for you to act like this.I didn't see Skotekal say "Ungh your not being formal" but rather that he didn't want you posting here, because 90% of your posts include trolling, flaming, or spamming, and it doesn't matter if you type well or not, there's no difference between

"ur a idiot" and "You're an idiot." it still makes you out to be someone we don't want here.

You say you're trying to change?Well, it's posts like that that make people doubt you.
If you want us to give you a chance, then suck it up, apologize, and stop doing what you're doing here.

Now I probably just de-railed us a bit, so...Sorry.I'll...spoiler it?

How could you get it hacked? Change your account info and stuff, run virus checks, etc. Downloading too much porn, Kyle?

How did you find out!?

Oh wait, you said Kyle huh?

....Crap.
Times like this I wish I was old enough to work so I could send you money or something. If i've learned anything though, it's that the underdogs always win...in movies.

Re: Great. I Broke My iPod Touch.

I wouldn't live without my iTouch. Mine isn't even Jailbroken. Though it's dented and stuff, it's like a small child. I got mine for Christmas from my dad when it first came out, when they were around $300. He got me that instead of sending child support that month, so it's really special to me. I love posting from it... couldn't imagine living without it. That really sucks that it broke. I don't play WoW anymore, but maybe you could write your authenticator number down or something, un-JB it, and send it in so you don't risk being cut-off from WoW?

I've heard of this before, could someone please tell me what in the world that means?

Re: Great. I Broke My iPod Touch.

Jailbroken ipod touches alow you do different things. When you jailbreak you get two apps. Cydia and icy
Cydia allows you to download stuff like themes. .Some games.. anything you could want really.. I also use an app called instalouse. omg that thing is amazing. Any game off of itunes for free! Omg its great.. The games dont work 100% of the time.. But whatever. Unjailbreaking it is easy..
I mean i should show pictures or a video of my itouch but thats only if you want tj. To show the difference. Its just like total customization of your itouch

Re: Great. I Broke My iPod Touch.

I don't like to use Icy. Same thing as Cydia but it rips of Jay Freeman and takes out all the ads that allow the app to stay running.

But yeah, Jailbreaking just allows 3rd party apps to be installed. Was originally thought of as an App Store alternative because of Apple's regulations and long approval times. All you have to do when you make an app and you get rejected by Apple is contact a repo willing to post your app and BAM. It's up on Cydia. Jailbreaking also allows full customization of the iPod. Changing your springboard, app icons, and all that stuff. They also have things like NES, SNES, GBA, GB, PS1, and some other emulators. These are really popular. And being able to SSH into your iPod is just freakin' awesome. You can also get some apps that allow you to download files from Safari and then able to view then in dTunes. (iTunes alternative on the iPod available through Cydia). So pretty much just allows you to do things that Apple doesn't want you to.

And I'm not gonna go too far in depth with Installous. Just allows you to download paid for apps straight from you iPod and install them. I'm not going farther because most of you probably have the piracy bell ringing right now. And that is against forum rules to talk, so it is big NO NO.

Yeah, but then you need a mic, and then you have to pay for a VoIP service. Cheaper than an iPhone, but I'd rather have the iPhone for sake of convenience.
