Movie suggestions.
In a futile attempt to get my mind off of the upcoming Fable III, I've decided to watch a bunch of movies. I will not watch anything in white and black simply because they'll be too difficult to find and I'm not exactly fond of seeing such monotone colors on my screen. I'm primarily looking for the following and preferably only the best of the bunch:
Comedies
I don't want no lame romantic comedies either. That chick flick stuff has never and will never be funny. I don't mind the classics like Ace Ventura - Pet Detective or Who Framed Roger Rabbit, I just need really funny stuff. Foreign comedies are also fine.
Martial Arts
No surprise there. I enjoy a good martial arts film, even the funny ones that mock them. I'm a huge fan of Bruce Lee and Jet Li as well as Jason Statham. I love Bruce Lee's classic work and Jackie Chan's too (you know, before he sold his soul).
Action
I'm a huge fan of **** that explodes and badasses with guns. Films with the Governator and Bruce Willis in 'em are obvious choices. As long as a bunch of nameless bad guys are getting their asses kicked and plenty of famous one-liners are said, I'm down with it.
Fantasy
Good fantasy films are as rare as finding a fat guy eating a salad that isn't loaded with bacon bits, cottage cheese, etc. Believe it or not, I did like the Dungeons & Dragons film only because it was so bad, it was good. I'll take anything as long as it has nothing to do with video games or Uwe Boll.
War
Movies like Saving Private Ryan and Blackhawk Down were amazing and weren't afraid to show the dirty, hellish side of war. A captivating plot and plenty of gore are what make 'em great so don't skimp out on the good stuff just because you think I might be squeamish.
Miscellaneous
I have no idea what to classify films like Forrest Gump under but movies like that are touching, funny and somewhat dramatic are great albeit slightly boring. Still, I'm willing to watch it as long as the cast is great and the storyline amazes me.
Animated
I'm a sucker for animated films, yes, even ones you'd more-than-likely rent for your child. I've always considered myself a child at heart and I'm not one to pass up a funny animated film. However, I'm not limiting it to films just like Monsters Inc. or The Incredibles, any anime films like Princess Monoke would be a great suggestion as well.
Western
I'm a HUGE fan of western movies as long as there's as it has a nice balance of trash talkin', gunslingin' and horse ridin'. This should be the easiest category to suggest movies.
---
So far, the only movies I've been suggested are: High Noon, The Magnificent Seven, Rio Bravo, The Searchers, The Wild Bunch, The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, Tombstone, The Quick & The Dead (this and the one before it are ones I happen to like and wish to watch again), Blazing Saddles and Three Amigos.
Start rolling those suggestions out! We've still got 45 days left until Fable III is released and as long as I've got plenty of movies to watch, I won't have to think about it quite as much.
