*And other places that have 7-11's and, presumably, do their dates with the month first.

Did you get your little free slurpee? I didn't! And now it's too late! I'm really sad now!

For those of you who don't know, 7-11 is a chain of convenience stores. Slurpees are their brand of flavored slushy ice drinks. On July 11th (7-11) they give out free (small) ones. But only between 11AM and 7PM.

And since I forgot to stop by this morning and it's 7:42 EST... I missed it. IT'S SO SAD.

Nah, didn't get mine.. and never will. The 7-11 near me was closed down a few years ago so I'm in worst luck than you, Walker. Haven't had one of those suckers since the 80s & 90s sad to say.

Nope. Once again I forgot about it untill it was too late. Besides, today was my day off and with temperatures in the 100s all day (even now at a nearly 8 PM!) I haven't felt like going outside for more than thirty seconds. Im not going anywhere unless I absolutely have to.

I've been sick with a cold or a virus of some sort, so I haven't really gone out in the past few days, much less to procure something that wouldn't be good to consume in my current state. I've just been sitting at home on a Fallout binge throwing back ibuprofen and zicam.

I remember the 7-Eleven - many days spent bicycling with my chums down the road. It was an adventure you could say - an adventure with the best reward. Throwing the money onto the counter with a look that cannot be described past pure ecstasy, the cashier handing over a cool, pristine plastic drink, 'Slurpee' scrawled on the side in the font of an angel. Moisture playfully wetting my hand as I reached for the trophy - I took a sip (not elaborated on because I couldn't make it sound like I wasn't giving head) and all the rubbish romantic films in the world suddenly made sense to me. My chums did the same, and finally, finally, our conquest of the Slurpee was complete.

Man Slurpees are good.

I'd say that it was the Slurpee that conquered you.

I feel like a right idiot now.

Thank you for enlightening me on this tradition, I suppose I'll make a reminder for next year.

I have never actually seen a 7-11 store. Not once.

YOU FOOL. Don't you know that slurpees are the magical panacea that make everything better?

Godammit, I want to be that person.

7-11? That's like the American equivalent of Spar or Costcutter, right? Somewhere you can go and buy obscenely-priced household goods, confectionery and about 2 litres of Spanish antifreeze for less than £2 when you've run out of the good stuff at a party...that sort of thing?

Maybe? The alcohol, no because the gas stations and convenience stores in my county aren't allowed to sell alcohol (or just don't do so,) but yeah, 24-hour-convenience store that's only convenient because they're everywhere and sell snacks and condoms and minor car stuff and deodorant/toothpaste. And slurpees, which really are the ****.

They are like our Slushies/Slush Puppies but more awesome, that one in the picture looks amazing. We get nothing for free in rip off Britain though.

I wish. There are no 7-11s in southern Ohio. Only stupid United Dairy Farmers who hires ex-con meth heads.
I miss Sev. More than that, I miss WaWa. It's like a 7-11 with a Subway inside it. :'(

Wawa runs a close second to 7-11, but honestly... Wawa's subs are better than Subway.

EDIT: Also, Drakan, you know the good part? That one in the picture is probably Coke flavored. It's quintessentially American. You take Coke... and you freeze it. The only way it could be more American would be if it were deep-fried.

This is when you tell me that you, too, have Coke-flavored slushy beverages.
