Thread title explains it all really. I know there are nearly 2 months left in the year but what has been your favorite music album from this year?? Also is there any due out this month or in December that you're looking forward to??

My favorite by far has been "Helplessness Blues" by The Fleet Foxes. Just an excellent album all the way through. For only a second album after of critically acclaimed debut, the fleet foxes are already showing progression and continuing to make beautiful music.

A close second for me is Laura Marling's "A Creature I Don't Know" which I have just listened to earlier.

The album Angles by The Strokes is amazing. It came out in March. The Strokes are one of my top two favorite bands (along with Led Zeppelin), and this last album they came out with is their best by far. There is only one song on it that I don't listen to very much. For anyone who is interested, here are a couple of samples from the album. The first one is their first single from Angles, Under Cover of Darkness. It's one of my favorites.

EDIT: I'm having some trouble embedding this music video, so here's a link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_l09H-3zzgA&ob=av3e.

This next one is probably my favorite song The Strokes have ever done. It's called Machu Picchu. I believe it is featured in the game FIFA 12 if anybody plays that.

The songs that I listen to are apparently from albums only as late as 2010.

Albums are a totally dark area for me. Aside from having only listened to a maximum of 10 songs in the past 2 months, I think I can only name one album... no, make that two albums from the top of my head. The Eminem Show (which is great btw) and Rammstein's Mutter.

I listen to soo much that there is bound to be a few new albums from bands/artists I like each year, even if it is a remaster or rarities album from like 30-50 years ago lol.

Here are two music videos, one from each of the albums I said in my initial post.

Grown Ocean by The Fleet Foxes

Sophia by Laura Marling.

Probably King of Limbs by Radiohead. I'm still holding out though... The Black Keys' El Camino album which is due out next month could change my mind.

The single came out less than a week ago and it has me very interested.

Pogo's new album "Wonderpuff" has me enthralled to say the least, his style I find quite refreshing for the electronic genre, and I haven't seen anyone else with the same style as him.. for now anyway.

Other favorite I have at the moment is Lemongrass' new album that recently came out called "Sirius", mix of his recent Ambient sound and a return to his old Downtempo style that was sorely missed.

King Creosote & Jon Hopkins' Diamond Mine.

Unfortunately, the first video doesn't work for everyone, but this one does...I think. It's the same song but an alternative version.

If neither works - search for it, if you're inclined to do so. It's called Bats in the Attic.

I don't think I've listened to any of the music from the last two years, let alone enjoyed it enough to pick a favourite.

#1 album: Digital Veil by The Human Abstract

#2 One by Tesserect

#4 D.R.U.G.S by D.R.U.G.S

Special mention: Colors by Between the Buried and Me (Not made this year, but I found it this year, and it is my favorite of 2011, if you get a chance, listen to this video, the album is meant to be heard as one constant song, it skips a bit of the first song though.)

There are more, but these are my top 3.

I used to think the same thing about no good music lately, but you really just have to look.. There are loads of passionate and creative artists out there, they just don't get much recognition or mention.

It's not so much that I don't like new music, but I stopped listening to the radio a while ago, so I'm just not up to date with it anymore.

Ditto to that, there are plenty of artists out now that are buried beneath all the mainstream garbage that produce music that's just as enjoying as the music from decades past.

Pitchfork and /mu/ are pretty good resources for new music. I check them every once and a while to see what's coming out, though it's a needle in a haystack to find something I like.
