In fable II, our god PM said it was going to be quite difficult to be good, the lure to evil was huge. Which I concur it was. It seems to be the same with this game, atleast what we know

Since we know lionhead said that the game's choices won't be very white and black ( no lionhead pun intended) but PM basically said it's going to be hard to keep your promises. For example,

Brightwall library: let's assume that opening the library is the ideal good choice/promise, and assuming that there isnt gray areas or plots we don't know about yet. The fact is it's going to cost money to run. Which as a good player you usually sacrifice

Going green/ child labour: now we have beenyold we can ultimately shut down factories. The problem is gardens/parks cost money to maintain. I also imagine the industry was a huge part economy in the game. With child labour it's more the same, you pay kids less, make more money. Opening an orphanage for those kids will also cost money to maintain.

Lower taxes, costs, and maintaining buildings: I truly hope this is obvious what it will affect.

Now some of you may say, "we'll rob you make a point but, I'll just adventure after being log to earn money" This is fine and dandy but we also been told if we "beam down like captain Picard" and adventure our kingdom can suffer. This is my extent to my knowledge that I think of ring now. Having some more insight from other players will defiantly help.

I have thought of some tips that may help you achieve your goals;

1. Marry another player (best if their evil): apparently coop marriages you two share wealth. So if your evil spouse is wrecking havoc in their world, they are probably accumulating cash. So in your shared account this is good. ( luckily for me, my GFS first toon is gonna be evil)

2. Play alot of coop on friends save: jump into your friends game and play in his/her world. You'll get cash, get stronger and also get more out of your game.

3. Do not fast travel: my first toon, I'm going to walk everywhere if possible. Similar to what's above, you get more or of game, you gain more followers win spAwns, and can possibly find more if you explore

I like it being this way. It should be hard to be good. In Fable II there was no incentive for being bad, you just get money slightly easier. The decisions should not be "Either kill this guy to be nice or kill him to be evil". It should be "Do this because it's morally right, but could hurt you, or this because it is morally wrong but benefits you". Obeying the commandant was the only real decision that I had to think about because I actually lost experience which, at the time, was a little short in supply. The one at the shadow court gets reversed at the end of the game, and the final decision of the game changes almost nothing.

I agree with Tird, Fable II just didn't offer enough choices and it really was too easy to be good. Mind you, it was a slightly different story with corruption as I'd tax people higher for some time to obtain things faster and I felt that had a decent (but not good) consequence as villagers started hating me and I got uglier.

Anyways, I'm still going to try and be good in Fable III... just to **** of the PM. In fact, we should all unite as good people and show him something truly amazing :D

I am quite literally screwed than, to be honest iv'e been unable to have a single bad character since iv'e played fable. I have always played as a good character and haven't been able to do a bad deed in the game. lets hope they will have something that will allow me to have somewhat of a smooth ride, other wise I will need like three or four game saves to pay everything :(

I have found IRL as well as gaming, following a path of good is much more rewarding in the end.

To be honest it doesn't bother me that much, being that I beat Fable II about 30 times. So doing a little extra work to get the character I want, will not affect me to much.

I feel the same way, which is why I seem to deviate from the "Evil" path when the option is given.

i think it's in our human nature to want to be good, but we get trapped and start thinking we want to be bad...

Damn. I'm caught between make my Louie good or bad. Maybe neutral is the way to go. If there even is such a thing as 'neutral' in this game.

As said in a Fable II Achievement. "Neutral Heroes are so boring."

True but I don't really care for being extremely bad or extremely good. I like choosing/doing whatever i feel like at the time.

I hope they do. They said they would make being evil tempting, but they very rarely did. The crowding was quite effective in making me want to cut a few people down so they would get out the way, but other then that there was very little. Infact, the only times I was tempted to commit an act one might think of as evil, I wasnt able too. (Killing Reaver in cold blood after his shoots Barnum, wanting to kill Hammer/Garth to stop Luciens plan dead etc).

The only time I was evil is when I decided I wanted to play an evil guy for the sake of being evil, rather then because the game tempted me into it.

Actually, I just posted something somewhere else...

Is there EVER a GOOD King?
Politics in it's sense is already "evil" in some ways. If you're going to spend the money on improving standard of living, there is bound to be people who get left behind by the economic growth. Income inequality rises etc.
Furthermore, you're more vulnerable to attacks from aurora (if any) and therefore can be seen as a "bad king" for letting your Kingdom come under fire.

I'm sure there will be "promises" which will contradict each other. Like real politics or economics, you can't make everyone happy. Perhaps you're gonna deal with a revolution ANYWAY unless you seriously be an all out totalitarian. Then you'll be evil...

Actually one way they can make it harder to be "good" is if you're less good looking when good than when you are evil. I don't mean making "good" people look really bad but they do say that Satan is a charming, handsome man.

I think thats what the game is going to try to represent. I cant really think of any leaders that where universely adored (maybe Ghandi) as being a leader means making hard decisions. People always want more for less, and that generally not possible. The more services you provide, the more you have to tax citezens to provide them. If you dont want to do that, you have to cut back on the military which risks leaving you open to invasion.

You can let people do what they want and be free, or force people into the roles that they best fit and be far more effective for it, but you make your people unhappy by limiting thier freedom. In a sense, an act of good by a leader must be balanced by an act that seems evil. Its also why the more you think about, the harder it is to define an act as good or evil, they are generally somewhere inbetween.
