Every 50 years something has to destroy humanity. Why? Because the media make a lot of money from it. Seriously, if the world had to end every 50 years, I can't believe how we survived up to nowadays.

Probably. I bet they got wise to the media (pterodactyls flying around shouting things in Dinosaurish) and then didn't believe that a huge meteorite was hurtling towards Earth. A-Boy-Who-Cried-Wolf scenario...

Allow me to clear things up for you.
There are only 26 letters in the English alphabet, they are as follows; A B C D E F G H I J K L M N O P Q R S T U V W X Y Z
These letters can be combined to form words, words can used to express thought. However, words can only express a complete thought when placed in an order that makes sense and followed by end punctuation.
Basic End Punctuation:
. Period, placed at the end of a statement. Example: "Please speak English."
! Exclamation point, used to convey excitement or loudness. Example: "Speak ****ing English!"
? Question mark, used to ask a question. Example: "Why can't you speak English?"
More advanced users (usually those in 3rd grade and up) can combine both the question mark and exclamation point to form a loud question. Example "English, mother****er! Do you speak it?!"

2012 is when the Mayan calendar ends.
When it ends, they would just start a new one. But they're dead now. There's never been a shred of evidence that shows the Mayan's predicted the end of days. Not a single bit.

They didn't even have the concept of the end of the world. That's a purely western thing, and there's no pre-Conquistador source mentioning anything remotely about the world ending, let alone an exact date and time.

i read your posts, i just didn't really have a response. the original 2012 doomsday was based on the end of the mayan calendar... hilariously overlooking that this race of people died out so at a certain point their calendar was destined to have an end. i hear another, more scientific, reason the world will end in 2012... it just sounds like desperate evidence to a ridiculous notion.
when i see news sources and governments crapping themselves from trying to deal with it, and otherwise unjustifiable amounts of cash going into catastrophe prevention research, then i'll believe an apocalypse theory.
i.e. the asteroid apophis was predicted to nearly miss the earth on one pass, and then collide with it on the second pass - thus ending life from the shear size of it. while this ended up not happening - blueprints for a rocket that could be attached to apophis on the first pass, then thrust and displace it's orbit were drawn up far in advance.
if the worlds gonna end and there's the science and panic you might expect there to warrant it, then i'll believe it's happening. because even if it is going to happen, what the hell am i going to do about it?
