My teacher tried to explain it to me last year. Never really got it. Is it because 10 is 2?
Damnit, I'm lost. Explain you bastards!
Basically a computer thinks in 1's and 0's.
Binary is like this: You have a series of numbers, each one being double that of the one that came before it. Like this:
1 2 4 8 16 32 64 128 ect ect.
Then you have 1's and 0's which could be explained as "Yes" and "No" or "On" and "Off". So when you have a binary number like 010101010 you put it ontop of your series of numbers:
0l1l0l1l0l1l0l1l0
1l2l4l8l16l32l64l128l256
The next step is adding every number that has a 1 above it together. So here we would have 2+8+32+128=170.
The number 170 can then be used in a myriad of things, like representing a letter on your keyboard.
