Besides that, we're on a website of Microsoft gamers - PC and Xbox. A PS3 one would just be out of place.

Always saw the site as more a site for gamers than a place of residence for the Microsoft exclusive crowd.

Regarding the Steam ID, it's small enough. I view the PSN tag as just more clutter (as well as the XBL tag), but I realize that I am most likely in the minority on that one.

this raises a good point.
perhaps if steve is adding the steam ID as an option, you could choose which you want displayed and the rest could just be viewed on your profile? :]

That and it's wider, not much wider but wide enough that it will squeeze posts even more. Not to mention that with the Steam ID, XBL tag, PSN tag, and poster information, the post becomes much, much taller as well. Unless members were restricted to using only one tag at a time or something of that sort, this would be my biggest grievance as I see 40 posts a page, that's a lot of scrolling down, and this would just be more scrolling down for me.

You're actually crying about a few centimeters of width being lost?. Members' signatures are already big enough as it is with plenty of scrolling (plus with those giant sigs, a PSN ID wouldn't make a difference if added), and since there's a minority of PS3 owners here, I doubt you'll have to worry about extra scrolling in each thread.

If it makes you guys that bent out of shape, Steve can make the PSN ID link the same way as the Steam ID does.

You're right, but the games this website are based on have all been Microsoft. Not saying they are superior, I'm in position to say so - but I just don't really think it's appropriate.

So... a great deal of people have absurdly large signatures, and that makes it okay to fill that side space with more useless stuff? That might not be what you're saying, but that's what I'm hearing.

And yes, I make an effort to fight tooth and nail for every last pixel on my screen. I don't like seeing it tossed away so that you and those like you can bathe in unnecessary forum trinkets.

Of course, someone has to act as a counterweight to maintain some sort of a balance. The height of your post is 593 pixels. The height of the text in your post is 186, including the quote which is larger than the rest of the contents of your post. The addition of the PSN would make the height of your post 752 pixels after accounting for the extra space above/below depending on where it would go if it were added. And another 19 pixels that goes between posts makes it 771. The ratio would be about 1:4 text height to post height. It's also more than 75% of the height of my screen, so it's not like I'm just being disagreeable for the sake of it. I just so happen to like seeing more than one post on my screen at a time.

Hi all,

Four quick things:

1. Many apologies for not adding the PSN ID thingamajig yet. I'm a massive nob head.

2. Add me on Steam, dammit! i r desperately need ur friendships!!!!

3. I reckon the Gamertag widget takes up too much space, too. I've got an idea of how to sort-of minimize it and make it less intrusive and hopefully keep everybody happy. If I can get it sorted in the next 25 minutes before bed then you'll see what I mean...

4. I just bought a Radeon 5970.
