AHH, HELP!

AHH, HELP!

So I messaged John Doe about this a couple weeks ago, but now it's turned into a horrific monster that makes me cry on the inside.

My Vox AD30VT amp has been acting up strangely. Whenever I would play, after about 5 minutes, the sound would just cut off. It seemed almost random.

But now, when I turn it on, the sound won't even work! I mean, it's on, the volumes up, and everything, but it just won't make a sound.

Yes, I have tested to see if it's a faulty wire/guitar (Plugging guitar into another amp and putting one end of the wire to my finger, other to my amp.) so I've narrowed it down to, "IT'S MY AMP, OH GOD NO".

So any experienced technicians care to help?

Oh yeah, could I like, take it into Guitar Center for repairs? I imagine they'd cost less than an entirely new amp.

Re: AHH, HELP!

Yeah, it's probably just one bad wire inside the amp. They should be able to service it at your local guitar shop. Sadly, I don't know how much this might cost.

I'm trying to get my dad to look at it. He's really lazy though...

Could be a loose wire. A little soldering will do the trick, if that is the case. Take it to a guitar shop.

Would Guitar Center do it?

yeah, take it to a shop. if that doesn't help then you should build a cannon and try and send it to the moon, and then buy a new one.

Buying a new one is out of the question, 250 bucks for a new amp, no way to earn money, parent's are definitely not paying.

Can you smell anything funny when you turn it on? Like Burning?

No, nothing like that.

if his amp is broken beyond repair, do you have an alternative? :hmm:
Just telling someone to "Buy a new one" is silly. He is young, he won't be able to afford it. And something like this won't be broken beyond repair. No such thing in electrics if you know how to fix it.

I'm british and have no idea what Guitar Center is. You're better off asking them.
