Alignment Userbar?

Alignment

We've had the chance to choose your alignment in the profile for as long as i can remember, but it's never really gone anywhere.

Now of course feel free to disagree, but i think that maybe we should make your alignment have a bigger role in your profile by, say, adding a userbar, making your posts appear differently, or something.

In an old Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast clan i was in, players had the option to be Jedi or Sith which would then change the color of a lightsaber under their name (the length of the lightsaber defining their number of posts). so maybe something to that effect could work.

We could do with it or without it, but with the inevitable influx of traffic when fable 3 is released a feature such as this may be a nice addition for members to feel like they are expressing their fable character choice or play-style when they post and not just when they are filling out their profile.

I really do like the lightsaber idea. I'm not sure what a Fable forum could have instead of a lightsaber or what colours it would be.

I quite like it. Maybe something underneath your avatar or something?

Perhaps instead of lightsabers, we could use morphing weapons since they'll be in Fable 3. Your sword could get longer and sharper as your post count increases, and it'd also change depending on your alignment. If you're evil, it could get darker, more sinister-looking, and have blood dripping off of it. If you're good, it could get shinier, brighter, and more heroic-looking. It obviously wouldn't be as gradual as it would be in the game though. Perhaps it could change along with your post rank.

Maybe the current post count userbars having different colours depending on your alignment?

The other bars (like bard, gold member etc.) are like neutral and do not change.

For example: sparrow (which is the very first userbar you get) will be very faint red or blue depending on the alignment you chose.

Whereas Lionheart (which is one of the last userbars you get) will be fully red/blue coloured (like the Town Guard and Guild Master user titles). This would make things interesting...

^ I don't think they should be the same colour as the Guildmaster and Mod titles. It may look a little weird.

or maybe we could have it on the rep bar? therefore "increasing your status" as a good or evil hero.
i like the weapon idea, but that does entail a lot of work. maybe if we have one sweet looking good and evil weapon, and members start with only a hilt. then as they get more rep more of the blade is revealed?

I like that idea of building off on the alignment, but not sure on a userbar. Some members already have too many userbars under their name.

Well really thats a great idea, But i think that the more evil you are the darker or awesome the weapon looks. And that your weapon can change when you get a certain evilness?

I think an alignment monitor somewhere would be interesting, it could be done through rep or userbars I reckon.

I swear I had this exact conversation with sfroggy1 not even a week ago... odd. Anyhoo, I'll take a peek at this thread tomorrow when I have more time and run some of my ideas past you lot, as well. A much more thorough implementation of the alignment system would be very cool.

As always, someone has to be the guy who says no. No one else is going to do it, so I will.I will lose my composure.

I remember when the most anyone could ever hope to have was four bars, and only one or two people had that many. With this idea, everyone will start with two dynamic bars, and they'll easily be able to get a third with the modder title. Throw some money upstairs and you get a fourth. Write a guide and you get a fifth. Show some news and get a sixth. With the new Fable 3 Modder title coming up and custom titles being made for contest winners, that gives potential for as many as eight bars. This is madness.

If people were limited to four (which I think is the highest number anyone has now), that would be more reasonable and people will have to decide which two other bars they really, really want. You get your standard bar, the alignment bar, and two of any of the others. I still don't like this as it will still make it easy for everyone to have three bars (including the Fable modder bar) but it draws a line somewhere.

haha i do see your point. to be honest, i realized what i'd made the title too late and actually went back to try and change it. i think your right with what you said which is why i supported daemon's idea as it built on a pre-existing bar rather than creating a new one. that being said, i'm going to go ahead and focus on this part of your post. :lol:

With that argument done, I'll say that I'm otherwise enjoying this idea.

Can't see the harm in it, but it doesn't really seem to hold a genuine purpose that will benefit anybody. I don't want PE to look like some tacky, gimmicky forum that just adds things for the sake of it, so I'm going to have to say I disagree.
