Asassin's Creed's Rome takes hours to cross

Assassin's Creed Brotherhood's one-city setting, Rome is big enough that it'll take you "hours" to cross on foot, Ubisoft Montreal designer, Patrick Plourde told CVG.

Speaking in a recent interview (read part one now), the Brotherhood designer said that Rome was simply "too big" to include in the last game.

"We actually went to Italy two years ago to do a scouting trip to take pictures for references. When we saw the city of Rome we said ok, this place is just too big and we'd rather we have Venice and Florence which are very true to pure renaissance." He added: "We said Rome would have to be brought in later.

"To bring in a twist instead of having a couple of medium size cities, relatively speaking, we said we're going to build this one big playground. It's as large as a Kingdom and the different districts feel like different cities.

Meh.... I preferred the smaller cities in AC 2 because they were more managable and easy to remember locations in them. Venice is completely alien to me, I only hope Rome is relatively easy to manage.

I loved the feel of Venice in AC2. It was just so... Awesome.

But I'm not so sure how I feel on just one big city... It'll have to do.

Oh so it really just is Rome in AC:B?

I thought they may include smaller cities inside the Lazio state such as Viterbo, Rieti, Frosinone and Latina?

I hope it really is as big as they say and it isn't just hype.

Are you serious?

O.O That's giant.

I want to climb to the top of the leaning tower of piza!

I think this will be pretty interesting. I'm looking forward to it. Plus, when it becomes too much, you can always just go on back to Monteriggioni.

Eh, all those canals made it annoying, and it stuck you there for too long. Some parts were cool, but it got extremely boring and made a trip back to Florence that much more refreshing.

That's seriously going to be massive..

Its pisa, and its in the city of pisa. Hence the name. So you won't be able to climb it.

Re: Asassin's Creed's Rome takes hours to cross

It was a badly worded article, i read it the other day and they forgot to add 'in game hours'. It will take literally 'in game' hours to cross not real time hours.
