You should be able to go to your User CP and see the last lot of rep you were given...up to the last 5 including any comments. You can't see who gave it though - I think only staff can see that (maybe Gold members too but not sure about that).

Detailed rep, where you can see all your rep since time began, was part of an add-on which was removed to save space. If it's not a necessary inclusion to the site, Steve tries to take it away so that it's not wasting valuable resources. If you ever want to find out the specifics of your rep from a certain time or whatever, PM a staff member and they can tell you who gave it, when and what for by checking in the Admin CP.

I thought I`ve always seen who gave the rep.

i'm a cheapskate-noncontributing-deadweight member and i can see who gave the rep. additionally you can click on it and it will go to the specific post you were repped for.

Can you? Cool - it used to be unless they left a comment with their name in, you didn't know who repped you - only the post it came from.

@ Rotid: Clicking on the Options button in your navigation bar at the top of the screen should take you directly to your User CP and your rep.
