Australia's Worst Natural Disaster

Terrible news, guys. My home state of Victoria has suffered from a massive spate of bushfires over the weekend after our hottest day on record occured on Saturday. Turn's out it's our worst natural disaster on record. Over 130 people have lost their lives at last count, with figures estimated to reach the 200 mark when the counting ends.

It's not just lives that have been lost, though. Farmhouses, cars, livestock, and whole towns have even been wiped off the map. Property damage is estimated at approximately too much.

I just wanted to let you guys know with the hope of spreading the word and because we need support in the form of donations, so anyone willing to part with their cash to help out their Aussie friends is more than welcome to do so.

Re: Australia's Worst Natural Disaster

Yeah Man, Saw it on Our NZ News. Terrible, Terrible!

But the British and NZ Came to the Aid to help re-build and re-new most things that were damged.
Which is Good.

Thats very Terrible.

Sorry.

Re: Australia's Worst Natural Disaster

Yes it is terrible what has happened, hopefully they catch the people who lit the deliberate fires and do as they have stated and charge them with murder as they deserve nothing less.

I was expecting a few fires to come from the heat that has hit, but definetly not to this extent, it is just horrific and my heart goes out to all those who have family and friends in the area. One of the hardest things I have read in a while was about the firefighter who lost his wife and child while out fighting fires somewhere else, he truly is a trooper.

Re: Australia's Worst Natural Disaster

worse again confirmed that come fires were set delibratley and some that were put out were reignited by the same people, some have been caught and are facing murder charges

Re: Australia's Worst Natural Disaster

Very Sad about the entire town of Marysville being wiped out by the fire too. Sorry to all the families of the fire victims, i couldn't possibly imagine what u r all going through. Big Hoo Rah to all the fire fighters and SES doing their thing. Those men and women do our nation proud

Re: Australia's Worst Natural Disaster

Heard about this on radio earlier, terrible tragedy and hope they catch the idiots who started them. They have ruined hundreds of peoples lives with their stupid moronic actions.

Re: Australia's Worst Natural Disaster

I hope they catch the murderers. I heard they were set. Hope you are safe.

Re: Australia's Worst Natural Disaster

I can't but laugh. My longtime friend has just left for Australia a couple of days ago. I thought he was crazy, he hates the sun and hot weather as much as I do. And now when he is down there it is like super hot.

Damn, if I get any extra cash I'll try and send it your way. But I am poor at the moment.

Why can't torture for these things be enforced anymrore?

In the summer we always get bushfires. This one was a mix of natural bushfires and arson which, when mixed with our drought and our hottest temperature on record, combined to make the most devastating "natural" disaster in our history.

And where I am at the moment is fairly safe. It's an outer suburb, but it's not really near the fires. I'm lucky enough to not know anyone effected by it.

People are too soft, that is why.

Also, Arseface, is it becoming difficult where you live? Has it died down yet?

The fires are still burning, believe it or not, they're just not as bad as before. Most Australians are chipping in with donating or helping out in some way. A joint effort by some radio stations managed to raise $2 million odd in a day. In a way it's heartwarming to see that everyone in Australia has helped out in some way.
