Australia's Worst Natural Disaster

Re: Australia's Worst Natural Disaster

Damn, a long way to go. Hopefully there is enough donations to get a lot of the replaceable stuff replaced.

And yet my city just brought in 2 koala bears, has like a 15 second blurb of the disaster, then talks more about the koalas, yet 12 sting rays died from the workers not paying attention to salt levels in the water, and then a goat hangs itself with a rope from neglect.

But spending money to bring in koalas instead of helping another country is totally worth it. Now we're gonna have more mistreated animals. And they claim the Calgary Zoo is one of the best Zoos. Bah.

Oh sorry 'bout that.

Re: Australia's Worst Natural Disaster

Lol I read this now after just spending around $500 shopping there on tuesday... I wonder why I didn't notice any signage around the store at the time.

They are not called 'Koala Bears' or 'kola beers' or 'koolabahs', it simply 'Koala'. it's a common misconception by everyone who does not live in Australia.
I guess in a way, u r right, they are called koala bears everywhere in the world, except the place they actually come from.
In comparrison, Japanese language is known simply as Japanese everywhere in the world, except in Japan where it is refered to as Nihongo. So, Same Shiznit, different Buznucket

Hmm... My dad said a great line about saving wildlife in this situation, "Save the animals? Fry up the animals to feed to the starving survivors!"

I think he swore a bit more when he said it.

I would have preferred to go to the cricket in Adelaide.

We call them that sometimes. We know it's wrong, but in the end, we all have to remember that Kangaroo is Aboriginie for "I don't understand you," and Mooma (a festival we have in Melbourne) means "Up your mothers arse."

correct spelling is Cantonese, as it orginated in Canton, which i believe is the more commonly spoken language.

BTW, this is Sam the Koala, a survivor of the fire.
