Behold the Mods Database! [Beta]
Hi,
First off: It's very rare that I get an opportunity to use the word 'Beta'. I spent all day coding this thing from the ground up and I'm really pleased with the progression so far.
Before I go into details, I'd love for you folks to have a look-see : http://i.imgur.com/tJTR6.jpg.
Reminder: This is a BETA, meaning it is incomplete and is still in the early stages of development, optimization, bug hunting and overall aesthetics. I've coded this entirely from scratch and I would however love for you lovely folks to tell me why you think it looks awesome, looks like crap, and generally just let me know how you feel it could be improved.
A few things I'd love to highlight:
1. Insanely easy to create mod pages. I've been toying with the idea of a new usergroup which would be in charge of reviewing and validating individual mods for authenticity and quality. If this group should ever be created then it will be a doddle for you chaps to create those pages. It's basically a series of form inputs (currently 5) and isn't any more difficult than adding a reply to a forum topic.
2. I was serious when I said I wanted to reward mod developers. I've added the option for developers to provide their PayPal email address. People will then freely be able to donate a sum of their choosing to you for your hard work. How awesome is that?
Edit: Sounded a little like a salesman there...my bad.
3. The Battlefield Bad Company 2 pic is just a place-holder. Every mod developer will be able to have their own unique image used to help promote their work.
I'd really like to hear some feedback here, folks. Again: This is till in the very early stages but, well, this is just a lot of fun for me an. I've deliberately posted in this forum as I'm in need of some constructive criticism for the talented modders out there. I'm very eager to read what you guys have to say.
Just one last thing: The screenshot if just a capture of my localhost testing environment and the mods database isn't live yet. I realise I mentioned that above but just thought it best to mention again.
