I just can't think of a song I really like that was written in the 80s.

You bet your Australian arse I meant good music. Aside from some unfortunate horrors that spawned in the decade, there was plenty of brilliance to be had in the 80s with the surge of new genres/sub-genres. A necessary refreshment from the tired music before it... well.. much love for the 40s-50s (love that swing).
Tired music? Have you no respect for classic rock?!
Well then, I'm curious, what might some of those exceptions be?

Pink Floyd, Queen, Ronnie James Dio, Heart, and Rush for example are some mighty fine artists that I have plenty of respect for.
Screw you Giki, The Stones rule.
Strut it like Jagger!
Chick is cool, yeah. I have to be in a certain mood for Zeppelin and the Beatles, but I wouldn't call myself a fan. Even my own father is disappointed in me for my mild dislike of The Beatles & Zep, but my love for Deep Purple, Judas Priest, Rush, and Black Sabbath apparently makes up for it.Not a fan of Zeppelin, Cream or the Beatles?
Or a fan of this guy.

Or any of the other music that existed before the 80s...

Oh-ho no, aaabsolutely not. I can comfortably say The Rolling Stones are one of the most unenjoyable bands I've ever had the pleasure of listening to. Mick Jagger's voice is definitely average at best, he can strut all he wants.. not going to change my mind.

Not a fan of all the '80s bands posted so far except for Floyd. I used to like Queen back in high school but I got turned off of it for one reason or another. I can listen to it but it's not really what I seek to hear any more.
Everyone needs music for their different moods. I just fill that cheesy/strange gap with other things now. Mostly Beck and Tom Waits.
When I hear '80s music, this is what comes to mind.
