Best Mystery Romance Novels

All you bookworms can now suggest me some mystery/thriller/conspiracy novels. My sister picked up a book I had gotten for my birthday (didn't read it myself) and got so hooked she wants more things to read.
She just finished The Room by Emma Donoghue and loved it, but her other books haven't been translated to Estonian yet and she can't read English well enough.
Anything? No fantasy and sci-fi, please, though if they're really good it's ok. Also, more famous writers would be preferred as they have a higher chance of having been translated.

I have been hearing about detective stories. Almost everybody I know seems to read them, and they have long conversations about them in which I am unable to take part. The most serious public figures of our time, have been addicts of this form of fiction with mystery. The other root comes with romance stories reach or scrolling through snapshots of events or sensations that we remember. had collected from one premier organizations for mystery and crime writers, professionals allied to the crime writing field, aspiring crime writers, and folks who just love to read crime fiction. Are there anyone interested and experienced in these? Please share your experiences here.
Not all stories seems to be the same. I am talking about the pure fiction that is the mystery and detective ones and some among the romantic stories.
I am having the first two of these books in my collection but not the others. Is this available anywhere other than ebook? Please produce some attachments if having any details about this. Thanks in advance.

Okay.

Anyways, these books are good.

Could someone explain the point of romance novels to me? Legitimate question, no trolling, I just don't understand the allure of them.
Mystery books are kinda disappointing because I usually figure everything out about halfway through the book. Could just be I've never read any really good ones though.

Romance novel is a code word of pornographic novel.

Like I said, the only pure romance I ever enjoyed was "A Civil Campaign." I enjoyed it because, in part, these were characters who I had followed through large stretches of their lives. I'd watched the protagonist, Miles Vorkosigan, be an unutterable improvisational badass pulling batman gambits out his ass at the slightest provocation for several books.

Then I got to watch him go after a woman like he would a military campaign and have it be (basically) an utter disaster.

Plus there were entertaining sub-plots and just fun ****.

Not an accurate assessment. "Harleqeuin romance" is code for "pornographic." So are some others. But there are many more romance novels that are more complicated and less ****centric. Some old, dead classic novelists wrote what could be called romance novels, for instance.

Meh. That may be true, but in today's world when you ask for a "romance" novel they will give you Fifty Shades of Grey as an example, mark my words. Basically it has been cheapened.

Well The Pathfinder had a heavy romance sub-plot as well and it was damn good. It doesn't always have to be a romance novel.

Still The Dresden Files. It has romance side plots.

...that stretch several books, but still. THEY'RE THERE!

Spoiler: If you end up sacrificing your love interest to destroy an entire race of vampires, I don't think it REALLY counts as a romance subplot.

There's probably ****ty and/or pornographic versions of every genre, though. Doesn't mean you can say that about ALL of them. I mean, I've done that in the past, but I feel the need to defend them now because of Ms. Bujold's deviousnessosity.

Definitely. But none of them have become synonymous with "porn in text form" in the way that romance novels have.

You do kind of have a point.

Hrm? What about Murphy? She was alive and badass the last time I saw her... and Dresden was getting a piece of that. Or was that a "squealing 12-year-old-fangirl type of MURPHY MURPHY MURPHY?"

Darth Vader is Luke's father, and Leia is his sister. Chewie is his uncle.

**** COLORS. DRESDEN FILES SPOILERS AHEAD.

In the most recent book, they're both totally like, "We both love each other but this totally isn't the time to deal with it because fairies."

Also, they've never had sex.

Yeah, I know, I read that. But I figure Bob won't let them NOT get down and dirty. Hell, Bob's probably already joined your fellow fanfictioneers and started churning out xxxxxx-rated* Murphy/Dresden fics.

Okay, fine, that probably started a good ten years ago, but still.

*This is Bob. xxxxxx is x^3 times as sexy as xxx.
