Bioshock 2 Multiplayer Details Surface

2K Games announced today that it has signed a partnership with Digital Extremes to develop the multiplayer experience for BioShock 2. Under this partnership, Digital Extremes is working closely with the creative team at 2K Marin to develop a new and substantial element that enhances the lore and fiction of the BioShock universe.

“The fans asked for a multiplayer experience and we answered,” said Christoph Hartmann, president of 2K. “With Digital Extremes delivering a multiplayer experience for BioShock 2 that features all of the things that make BioShock unique, we’re holding ourselves to a high standard so that we can deliver the depth and variety that fans of the BioShock universe demand.”

Dont know if Bioshock needs multiplayer but if another team is developing that side of it then will be interesting to see how it ends up. At least 2K Games wont be distracted by it that way and wont have to sacrifice any quality of the single player to put time into developing the Multiplayer aspect.

I wasn't a biggie on Bioshock but I still played it through and enjoyed it. I think it'll be the same came with number 2. I hope I'm proven wrong

I dont think it has been specified yet. But there will be an experience system.

So, forgive me for not reading more but is it a co-op multiplayer experience or a versus?

Id imagine it will be deathmatch styled as they more or less ruled out co-op before in an interview. Plus the multiplayer is being designed by a different developer, if it was co-op im sure 2K games would make their own so they could get all the story details correct. In appointing another team to do the multiplayer i think they are trying to make sure they can put their full attention and time into crafting a well executed single player (like the first game).
