Call of Duty: Black Ops

call-of-duty-black-ops-launch.jpg

Yes, it has been confirmed, Call of Duty 7 will be named Call of Duty: Black Ops, produced by Treyarch and set to come out 11.09.10, Treyarch wants in on the Modern Day Warfare action.

Your ability to recognize insanely popular brands has likely meshed with your ability to recognize dates, rendering the text in this post rather superfluous. Unfortunately for you, we all get paid extra for using lots and lots of words -- especially ones like "superfluous."

Activision has unveiled the official website for Call of Duty: Black Ops, the latest entry from the franchise's alternate developer, Treyarch (they're the ones you haven't been reading about as much these days). Aside from its title and what appears to be a release date -- November 9th, 2010 -- Black Ops remains enshrouded in mystery and somewhat superfluous (we're up to 16 cents!) smoke. Expect to see much more when GTTV reveals the first footage later today.

Update: UK retailer GAME has some alleged details on Black Ops, claiming the game will take place in locations ranging "from Cuba to the Arctic and the jungles of Vietnam" (which matches up with the types of music that Activision was rumored to be looking to license for the game) and puts players in the shoes of a still nascent Elite Special Forces team while they participate in "off-the-record missions using unconventional weaponry to get the job done!"

Meanwhile, Treyarch's Studio Head, Mark Lamia, says in the official press release: "We can't wait for our community to experience Call of Duty: Black Ops. We have focused our entire studio on this game, with dedicated multiplayer, single-player and co-op teams creating the most intense, gripping and riveting experience possible for our fans on all fronts."

Treyarch.....
It will suck
That is all I can say

Re: Call of Duty: Black Ops

What kind of name is Black Ops?

Re: Call of Duty: Black Ops

^A "Black Operation" is a Spec Op mission that usually ends up being Deniable, deniable as in "This mission never took place"

That pretty much sums it up, thanks.

Probably wont buy it. Not really a huge fan of CoD anyway. I can always make an exception for CoD4 though.

Lame. Freakin' lame. Pure lame.

You'll never beat Gaz. Ever.

Re: Call of Duty: Black Ops

I think the game will be good in its own right but it will have to do something special to make it stand out. I hear they are going to do a co-op story in it, if its a fully fleshed out whole experience then could be good. However if its a tacked on extra with different short missions or like Spec Ops in MW2 then its been done before and is nothing to brag about. Treyarchs main problem is that they take ideas from the Infinity Ward titles (not a bad thing) but they fail to introduce enough unique ideas of their own and therefore it feels like a rip off of an Infinity Ward title with a few tweaks.

So all in all they are usually decent enough titles but dont do enough for me to warrant another purchase or pull me away from any of the ones developed by Infinity Ward. For every improvement or tweak they seem to do something that makes it take a step backwards. I mean World At War was a decent game and multiplayer was decent but they went back with the timescale again and id used those guns a thousand times before in other games so it quickly became dull. Plus the mulitplayer level design in World At War was awful in my opinion & was quite unbalanced.

Here's the slowed down trailer to catch some of the important stuff.

COD Is always a maybe for me, I would rather play an RPG or a Sci-Fi game.

Re: Call of Duty: Black Ops

If Call of Duty: Black Ops comes out for PC and has dedicated servers for online multiplayer (unlikely) then I'll definitely get it; otherwise, I'll skip. I've got MW2 listed on eBay for the simple reason that I find the online absolutely infuriating because of the damn host advantage crap.

RAGE.

Re: Call of Duty: Black Ops

TBH, I actually think this one will be pretty good. I never liked any of Treyarch's games, at all. With the exception of Nazi Zombies in Call of Duty: World at War. But I think this one could change the way I think about Treyarch. So I guess I'll just have to wait and see how it's like :) maybe they'll release a demo of Single-Player, Co-Op or Beta.
