For those who have been keeping up with the Casey Anthony case, the sentencing was this morning and has just recently finished.I was honestly disgusted and shocked with the jury's decision on Casey Anthony being not guilty for Murder, Aggravated Manslaughter and Aggravated Child Abuse, but they agreed she was guilty for lying and providing false information to the police.
Why I was shocked:
Smell of dead bodies had been reported in being in her car.
She was out partying and getting a tattoo while her daughter was missing.
She lied to the police about the nanny/babysitter having her daughter, framing a woman who had no connection to either Casey or Caylee.
She lied to the police about receiving a phone call from Caylee.
She admitted to lying to them and "purposely sending them on a wild goose hunt".
She searched "chloroform" on her computer, although her mom took the blame.
I don't need to go into anymore details which would clearly hint at the high chances of her killing her daughter, they continued to slam forensic evidence during the first degree murder trial, but out of everything that was produced, the jury found her not guilty. It makes me want to question who was paid off and how much. Ironically, Juror #3, Jennifer Ford, said that they were all sick to their stomach when they made the decision and they were crying.
To finish up, this morning, Casey's Defense team tried to merge all 4 counts of lying and providing false information to the police into one, claiming it to be a violation of double jeopardy, because all the lies were "in one conversation." However each lie had been told separately, was it's own lie AND each lie caused the police to extend their resources in a different way, therefore the Judge gave her 4 consecutive sentences. She was sentenced 4 years in prison and $4,000 however she has already done roughly 2 1/2 years in prison, and with the amount of good behavior she has had in prison as well as factors, the Judge has stated that with everything combined she may very well get out officially this July or August.
Although this is tragic, and out of everything I have heard and gathered from this case, my opinion still stands that Casey killed her daughter, and that the Jury screwed up big time, there are thousands of more kids who are victimized every year here in the United States alone who are still alive which we could extend our public media sources and communities to help out.
