Chasing Ghosts

Why do countries such as France and England and really countries all over find the room to talk when it comes to military failures and cockiness? I had a discussion with a - I think he was like 12 - but he said and I quote "SAS are the best out of every army in the world." 1. SAS is the Special Forces group of your Military not an army, dumbass. I tried to explain to him that other factions such as Spetsnaz and Moosad could easily take on the SAS without fret. He proceeded with

"No. I heard that the SAS are the best on the TV." "
"British TV?"
"Yeah."
"*facepalm*"

But I always hear other countries bombing on our military for screw ups and how we fail at Iraq or friendly fire, yet it's those countries whose asses we have kicked AND saved in the past that talk ****. How can someone talk bad about a military? If you look back at our track record of wars, the wars we have lost or failed at such as modern day Iraq and Afghanistan are because the politicians are running the show, 5,000 dead American Soldiers. The First Gulf War was won because Bush Senior gave the power of authority to run the show to the Generals, the guys who knew what they're doing. Whereas in Modern Day Iraq, Bush and now Obama and Bush's **** up idiot administration ran the show. So how can you bomb on someone whose just doing their job?

I honestly would love to see the Countries who insult our Military go against them when our Military leaders are running the show, not politicians.

One last thing I forgot who said this but someone once said "American soldiers weren't built to be buffers. Which this country has so gladly used them for."

Re: Chasing Ghosts

"The kid was 12" isn't self explanatory? And where else would he have watched TV? Germany? He's in Britain so he'll watch British TV. At least British TV covers international news.

America has never won a war without help from other countries except the war of independence (I think, I don't claim to be a history expert so I could/probably be wrong, I know Walker or someone will point out that America won a tiny war that no one has ever heard of by themselves, somewhere).

The American military needs to go to specsavers.

The SAS are the best at what they do :)

I don't mean to annoy anyone but I felt like posting the first things to come to mind this time round.

That made me laugh.

We have every right to diss your army... It sucks. They do before they think.

Countries who's asses you've kicked? You helped us once and got raped by the Vietnamese... Maybe you just edit out that bit.

Also, the kid was 12. He probably thought the SAS were the best because he played CoD4.

Re: Chasing Ghosts

SAS - Super Army Soldiers.

Fact.

(if you don't get this, you haven't watched Extras. Shame on you).

Re: Chasing Ghosts

The danish forces are the only ones that ONLY operate in the front (helmand province).
Sure we have the highest death count comparing to how many we sent (37 gave their lives so far, 1 from friendly fire and a whole lot to those GOD DAMN hidden bombs burried by the side of the road!)

I don't remember what I wanted to say... war sucks, and aguing over who has the supperior militay power won't get you anywhere.

China will be a new super power - bigger than USA and Russia ever was.

Invading Iraq wasn't the right thing to do, it wasn't for the right reasons. Destroying a country isn't the right way to spread democracy.

Re: Chasing Ghosts

That's it *****es, I'm declaring war on all your countries. Don't be surprised when we come-a-knockin' and blow your asses away.

Agreed.

Though I don't think invading Iraq was the right thing to do, I believe it IS our responsibility to help the people there now that we've killed like 100,000 civilians and bombed the **** out of the place. Seriously, if they wanted to get rid of Saddam, they should have just hired a sniper to pop a cap in his ass.

Re: Chasing Ghosts

Let's examine some famous wars:

  • American civil war (you lost whatever way you look at it).
  • First World War (arrived late)
  • Second World War (arrived late)
  • Vietnam (OH)
  • American Revolution (Strictly speaking you would never have won without the British's help, seeing as we lost for you. We probably let you win.)

'Nuff said.

Re: Chasing Ghosts

That 12 year old kid doesn't speak for all of us Brits.

Wait, did he say he heard it on TV? Must be true.

Re: Chasing Ghosts

I'm in Third Echelon. I beat all of you, hands down.

Re: Chasing Ghosts

hold on... i do find myself loving the israeli air force, which is supposedly fantastic. but that was at a jewish private school, which was horribly biased in almost all of it's teachings. so, scratch that. i still don't care. i do still idolize that air force because of what was pounded into my head when i was 7, though. it's kind of sad, really. considering i know nothing about airplanes let alone an air force. :hmm:

Pssst...we had help from France in the Revolutionary War. All in all I must say the Russians USED to be the best but now that position has been usurped by the U.S. Has anyone seen the new Russian wartime project? Inflatable.... really? I think each country has some specialized force that is the best in the world at what they do. And yes most of this information is off the top of my head so if I mistook something please correct me.

Re: Chasing Ghosts

If memory serves, the SAS is one of the top, if not the top special forces group in the world, Spetznaz beat American Special Forces groups a few times (I saw on TV... TV, not an official report) and I have read that Spetznaz training is possibly the most brutal. American military has never won a war against a nation by itself, In the Revolution we had the help of the French, the Irish(?) and the Native Americans, even with that, sure, it was mostly an American victory. Spanish American war, we won. Civil War, we beat ourselves. WWI, we arrived late, blaming it on Germany, when it was our fault, fought, shared victory. WWII Similar to WWI, came in late, because of our own mistake, fought, shared a victory, our involvement was 'meh'. Vietnam, asses kicked, Korea, stalemate, Iraq (A.K.A, war against militants, A.K.A police action) horribly slow victory with cost.

China is the rising superpower, and they will probably outclass all military eventually.

I only know one thing the Israeli air force did - and that was both bold, brilliant and awesome!

So Israel is at war with.... some country in the middle east who hates jews (yeah, doesn't really narrow it down, does it?)
anyway, said country has all theit hightec radars pointed towards Israel, so the Israeli air force just fly around the country and hit em from the rear, destroying every military base on their way back home.

Brilliant

Would hate to be the guy resposible for radar placement...
