No forum is safe from trolls except those that require Administrator approval after registration. The other issue with chatboxes/shoutboxes is the decrease in forum activity from many members hanging out it in the box, plus it often attracts spam from current moronic members who attempt to be cool or gain attention.

We've been asked a few times before on this and other forums and the answer is, and always will be, no. For the reasons already posted by others, basically.
It's also why we cut the spam forum out - no one was bothering with the main site, no one was posting except to say "lol" or "I like cheese" and that's hardly what one of the best Fable sites on the internet wants to be known for.
The closest we have to any kind of shout/chat area is the profile page, social groups and PM's. I know they aren't as quick and convenient, but it's better than nothing at all

Pretty much sums it up along with Sharons comment. We tried a shoutbox and we tested a chatroom too and it took away most the activity from the forums and caused issues with flaming and trolling that we couldnt monitor 24/7. Not to mention that shoutboxes are just plain ugly and make forums look unprofessional.

If we were to make one on Sorcery.net, it wouldn't be a problem. I've yet to encounter someone to have problems there.JohnDoe;371204 said:

Then people need to show some restraint - it's not that hard not to say absolutely everything that pops into our heads. It may well reduce the spam on the boards but it would also reduce the decent activity on the boards.
