Re: Civillian Displacement in Samarkand

Albion
Archon
European architecture in general

You can say try to say that Fable and Earth shouldn't be linked, but comparisons are unavoidable. Actually, I'd like to see a Fable game that took place entirely in Samarkand instead of Albion. Like some sort of Hero system there as well; Will is definitely not limited to Albion.

That's the problem with the whole black situation.

White slaves - Perfectly fine.
Black slaves - Omg racist!

No. Let the game be. Stop putting weird ideas into peoples heads and leave the real world out of it. Last time I checked, it may be set in similar eras but last time I checked, Earth doesn't have a spire that has a sh*t load of magic in it.

Thats a very good point. In my opinion it would only be racist if they hd the black slaves as ugly, dumb, and savage.

In fable 2 white prisoners were being starved to death but if there were a few balck people among the white majority then it would be called racist. Black people are equal to us now just like every other race so there is nothing to stop them going through as much suffering as white characters. its not because game developers hate them its because theres really no difference between black and white people anymore.

white people won't understand the fact that its racist. Most black people don't even know were they come from apart from Africa due to slavery.

ok that makes no sense. All of the world's black people know where they come from. A person comes from the land they were born in not where the majority of their colour lives. And please explain what you mean that white people wouldn't understand the fact that its racist. I'm white and I understand what racism is perfectly, and I know that having one racial background as a slave caste in game thats based on an era where they were slaves, is not racist but portraying a fictional version of history.

Re: Civillian Displacement in Samarkand

It would be best if the slaves were randomly generated. That way, if they do implement Samarkand, stereotypes will be created by a random.randint(0, 10).

Re: Civillian Displacement in Samarkand

Racism would mean that they were treating NPC's from Samerkand differently because of their race. Assuming from Garth that "Samerkandians" are all dark skinned I would say that including civilian displacement in that region would be insensitive and in extremely poor taste but not racist.

On a lighter note here is Ron Glass "Garth" in The New Odd Couple

Re: Civillian Displacement in Samarkand

I meant, if anybody were to claim racism, they were to be pointing fingers at a program, not the heads. I doubt they will have a quest or occurrence in which they "displace" people from Samarkand specifically. They would be sued for that, definitely.

Re: Civillian Displacement in Samarkand

A note on the whole skin colour diference and country links... Samarkand people might represent both Africans and Asians... Has anybody thought of the Indians? Africans and Indians are quite similar, and India is quite close to China where the gunpowder was discovered. Samarkand could actually mean that entire two continents...

So thats like three continents covered in Fableverse... but Europe isn't completely represented too... Albion is the oldest name for the Great Britain, so there might easily be more lands... Remember those warrior monks Hammer mentioned?

Oh, and I think Fable 3 should include travels to other countries... Being a king can be quite boring after the first day, so they might make it up by including this ship to Samarkand... Remember at the end of Fable 2? Garth said they will definitely meet again... something to think about

I also said that it would be racist to assume that samarkand has slavery. Your view of it is different to mine as it should be but they are very similar.

Now thats a stereotype. Black slaves who had been born into captivity wouldn't know about where they came from or about their relatives but black people today know who their relatives are, and not of all them come from tribes. Unless you meant the black people from the pre-slavery ban era, then you should've made that clearer.

Re: Civillian Displacement in Samarkand

Aren't we suppose to be talking about Samarkand? I don't mean to hurt anyone but this is slowly going off topic...
