I'm not really sure we should just be handing them out.
I think if someone will get one, then it's because they contributed somehow not just posted a bunch. For instance, Droded has run the annual comic tournament which brings excitement and entertains people on here so I think he should get one and so should people who helped others in Fable 2 and made worthy trade threads etc but as for just handing them out to randies who haven't really done much and just want one to be unique over the other members, I don't know, but that's just my opinion.

Agreed otherwise every person and their dog would want one, i believe the few that have gone through were for something otherwise Steve wouldnt have wasted his time making them but i wasnt aware of them until it was brought to my attention.

I edited to add an example and be more descriptive but I think the ones that have been handed out so far are fine, I know Hermit and Tyrant have both helped out the community and Purple won his in my contest but I don't honestly know about the other people.. I think the custom user title should be given out to the people who have helped out and contributed and continue to do it, it's a unique mark and defeats the purpose of it if people just come in and get one for not doing anything except posting.

They really aren't a big deal - they're just badges. They mean absolutely nothing to me and they're a hassle to make, upload and assign to a profile, but if someone has contributed 5,000 posts then they are more than welcome to have one as a kooky little reward if they so wish. And just to make sure we aren't getting our wires crossed: I'm not giving out Contributor, Supporter or any other badges - just custom orange ones.
I'm giving away three because people have been bombarding me with requests for them and it has become incredibly tedious to have to refuse one person after another - these will be the only three that I will willingly give away. I thought I'd turn it into a contest because I was hoping it would turn this opportunity into something a little more fun and worth my while.
Edit: I have no problem ending the contest though if the staff would rather it be closed. I'm not trying to tread on anyone's toes here.
