Customizing your computer.

I don't mean literally going into your computer and adding and taking away stuff I mean what programmes do you guys use to enhance your desktop? And if possible screenshots.

I use rocket dock with the stack docklet download.

Also use a custom xp theme.

Custom Icons

And Finally Rainmeter.

This is the result.

I don't like customizations. I typically go with Windows Classic theme, sounds disabled (I don't need an annoying sound to tell me that I have opened a folder, thank you), and all visual effects adjusted towards best performance.

Reason: I like plain and simple, no frills, bells or whistles. Standard issue. It also allows anyone who has used a computer in the last fifteen years to easily use my computer without needing an explanation of what's what (in the rare event that I allow someone to use my computer).

That's fair enough, I suppose I'm just a sucker for overcomplicated and pretty things haha. Also I deliberatly make my computer complicated to use so no-one asks to use it because my pet peve is people using my comp D:

And thank you Arc Caster =D

Well that's bloody boring.

Anyway here's my current desktop. Well, at home. I'm on holiday right now and I miss my computer.

Re: Customizing your computer.

It is, and how can you say it's ugly if all you can see that is Windows 7 is a small taskbar that is both sleek and minimalist?

BUt it's not small, it's chunckier then the xp takbar and is transparent. I prefer it to be a solid block I can see and customize to fit in with my wallpaper and or firfox theme.

Re: Customizing your computer.

It's chunkier by like 5% if you put the settings correctly. Also, you can make it so it isn't transparent if you want to.

Is the bar itself fully customizable? If so then I'll change my opinions.

This. No one else is likely to ever see my desktop as the computer is mine and mine alone. I'm easily confused as well, so pretty stuff is just very distracting and I can never find what I want. I have about 8 icons, if that, and most of those are the ones that come as standard with the whatever it is I have installed to make the computer work.

I really like some of the desktop customisations you guys have though :D

Yeah, you can change all of those - and if you can't get it how you want it, download a theme.
